A spunky Southern baker, Corrie Bennington has her heart set on winning a gingerbread house contest in Vermont. Her masterpiece: a replica of the old inn where her estranged parents met. And where Corrie hopes to find the father she's never known. But when she arrives in Mt. Piney, Vermont, the inn is closed—and being restored. Handsome carpenter Andy McFarland offers to help Corrie find her dad and build her candy house. But Andy's matchmaking little sister has her own sweet holiday wish—helping Andy and Corrie find a little romance this Christmas.
Cute fun read. I enjoyed the inspirational attitude it had toward love. I liked how the story was told from third person and covered both the hero and the heroine. I liked how the story developed.
I liked the story, but I had to stop reading because of the narrative. These two people had only known each other for 3 days but the narrative spoke as if they've known each other forever, and not in a good way. "Andy believed that no matter how hard they tried to make it work, it could never quite come together"... No one could know that 3 days after meeting someone. "He'd find himself perpetually running to her rescue"... Perpetually, after 3 days? Not to mention he was glorifying himself by exaggerating the events. He never had to rescue her; he had embarrassed her more than anything.
Sweet Christmas romance involving characters that are life-like and interesting. Not your normal fluffy romance novel. Jones has a clever way of adding humor to her story.
Very sweet story i enjoyed it. however i agree with the person that it came together a little too quickly. Either way I would read it again and I would recommend it
Corrie Bennington has come to Vermont to enter a gingerbread house contest. Her entry is based on an old local inn where her parents met 24 years earlier. Since her father disappeared from her life before she was even born, she has decided to use the trip to find out something about him as well. She meets Andy McFarland, current owner and renovator of the inn, who is trying to have it ready to reopen by Christmas Eve, but running into unexpected delays. Their romantic conflict seemed a little forced. And the conclusion too pat. The hunt and resolution concerning her father was unbelievable. I've read better versions of this plot.
In this story, Corrie visits a small town to try and find her Father and she is also entering a Gingerbread House Contest. Along the way, she meets Andy and his Sister. Corrie has a wonderful time getting to know the people in the Community and helping in her own way.
I really enjoyed this book, a genuine "real" story read very well I cried and I laughed until tears ran down my face. This writer has a unique way of writing that makes the story seem so real and emotional. I have read a lot books in my day and it is rare that I can laugh so much and read the story as if it were a real account. I loved it!
I love how I am getting to all my Christmas books in April, but hey since it snowed today it's fitting. :) This was a really cute story, and I loved Corrie's out look on life. :) She was a breath of fresh air!
Gingerbread Inns and the real kind are at the heart of this story. Corrie is looking to find her father and enter the gingerbread house contest. Andy is restoring the inn where Corrie's parents first met.
