Emma is content. She's got a promising career in front of her, great friends, and a pretty amazing family. But her love life has been a little lacking lately. That's when fate steps in, and she crashes into a tall, dark and handsome man—Teren Adams.

He’s single, successful, an extraordinary gentleman, but he’s also secretive. And some of his secrets are more unusual than most people’s. For instance, he’s a “little bit vampire. He has fangs, incredible hearing, unbelievable speed, and, on occasion, he enjoys drinking a steaming cup of blood. But he’s also very much alive. He has a heartbeat, loves steak as well as cappuccinos, and has no problems walking around during the day.

Since Teren acts human the majority of the time, the pros far outweigh the cons in Emma’s book. But when it becomes apparent that Teren’s condition is much more serious than he first lets on, and that being in a relationship with him requires more sacrifices than most would be willing to make, will Emma stay? Is love enough to compensate for a life that will never be anywhere near normal? But then again...what's normal anyway?

Very Sweet story. Very Romantic.

Spoilers

Teren: is very sweet and gentleman like not alpha male controlling, but romantic and kindhearted, and still very sexy.

Emma: is very down to earth and normal. She is pretty and sweet but strong when she needs to be.

"Hey, boy, I missed you." I scratched him behind his ears. He thumped his tail and I could have sworn he smiled.
Teren sat up on the other side of him. "You missed the dog? Did you miss me?"
I shrugged my shoulders. "Maybe...a little."
He leaned over Spike to kiss me. "It seemed more than a little last night."
I grinned and pulled him down to me, making Spike scoot out of our way. "Okay...maybe a lot. Maybe I was miserable. Maybe I cried all the time. Maybe I told off my boss. And maybe I even got wasted and danced inappropriately with my friend's boyfriend. Maybe..."

Teren raised his eyebrows at me. "Wow, you were busy. I just sulked a lot." He cupped my face in his strong hands. "I'm so sorry I didn't tell you everything right away. I was so afraid you'd leave me."

I enjoyed this story very much. Teren and Emma together are great and when Emma meets his family for the first Oh God too funny.

Imogen sighed, and I looked up to find her watching Alanna and Jack. Meeting my gaze, she said, very quietly, "Do you not find Teren attractive, dear?"
I blinked and my mouth surely hit the table. Do I what?

"Gran," Teren growled at her, and her youthful eyes regarded him before returning to mine.
"We know he's trying, young one, but you seem to be rejecting him. We don't mean to eavesdrop, but...he's such a good looking boy, surely you feel some desire for him?"

Towards the end when Emma saves them it was great because she wasn't this kick ass heroine she was just normal but she found strength to kick ass in the end and save her and her vampire!

"You were wrong. I told you he wouldn't kill me." I flicked a glance down his dirty body. "He won't even kill you." My eyes found his again; his seemed more alert and I knew I only had seconds left before he could fight me off. I leaned forward over his body. "He's too good a man to kill you."
I raised the bar, and with one hard push, I shoved it into the soft spot at the hollow of his throat. The man jerked in surprise as the iron ripped through his flesh and hit his spine.
"I'm not so good," I growled.

And of course the book gives you a Happy Ending with Twins!!!!!

When he reached my hips, he stopped and looked up at me, a little irritated. "What is that?"
I tried to control my heavy breath, as I pushed his head back to my skin. "What's what?"
He looked back up at me, like I was intentionally doing something to annoy him. "That noise? I've been hearing it for a few days and it's really distracting right now..."
"God, Teren, I don't know...you could be hearing a moon landing with those ears of yours."
He sat back on his heels, further frustrating me. I put my hands on my hips as he stated, "No...it's coming from you."
He dismissively waved his hand at me. "No...I know those sounds." He brought his fingers to his chin, while he sat there thinking. "This is different...it's almost like-"
I cut him off, my face heating. "You know those sounds? Teren! You do not have permission to listen to noises that my body makes. We need to talk about boundaries."
He shot to his feet and took two steps away from me. "Oh my God, Emma."
I looked over his shocked face with scrunched brows. "I'm just saying I don't want you eavesdropping on my digestive track. It's nothing to freak out about."
His face broke into a strange expression. He took a step towards me, cocking his head, like he was intently listening. "Oh my God, Emma," he said again, almost reverently.
My heart started racing at the odd look on his face. "You're freaking me out, Teren."
He looked down my body and then looked back to my eyes; a crystal clear tear fell down his cheek as he regarded me in awe. "Oh my God..."
He took another step towards me and I stepped away from him, until the backs of my legs hit the bed. Confusion added to my trepidation. My heart felt like it was going to burst right out of my chest. I was about to yell at him to tell me what the hell was freaking him out, when I finally noticed where his eyes were going when he looked at my body. The realization hit me at the exact moment his hand came up to rest on my abdomen.
My eyes flashed up to his. "Teren, do you...hear a heartbeat?" A tear rolled down my cheek at the very idea.

God I love happy endings with babies I am on to the next book

First, I found my casting for Teren!!!!!

** FULL REVIEW NOW POSTED ** 4.5 stars!!

Conversion is a sexy, thrilling and romantic twist on the traditional vampire story that I think will appeal to all fans of romance regardless of whether or not they are 'paranormal' readers.Teren Adams will make you SWOON!!!

*happy sigh* I seriously love this book!! I love Teren Adams. I love the story. I love the romance. I love Emma. I love their families. To be honest, I just love everything about it :)

The mythology is very simple and is presented in a very matter of fact way that makes it easy to accept. It's there but it doesn't take over, allowing the story to remain very character-driven. The focus is always on Teren and Emma's romance and the paranormal aspect was woven in very naturally. I loved the balance!

Trust me, you'll be smiling from the first page! The writing is just brilliant!

The story follows Emma, a regular human who one day literally runs right into a tall, dark, and very handsome stranger, Teren, who it turn out is more than just a 'man'...

"There was nothing at all that made me think he was anything other than an interesting human guy, that I'd literally run into. But then, one day I saw his fangs. Those were a little harder for him to explain away."

Turns out that Teren Adams is a 'little bit vampire'. He drinks cappuccinos, has a heart beat and walks in the sunlight but also just happens to have certain... enhanced... abilities. To Emma though, he's human enough for her to take everything in stride and just accept him as the man she's falling for.

But the more she's sucked into his world, the more she learns that things aren't quite as simple as they appear. Teren's condition is a little worse than than he let on, his family is desperate for an heir, and the stakes are raised calling for big sacrifices that put the strength of their love to the test.

"Things will change, Emma but one thing will not."
"What?"
"I'll still love you."

I can't tell you enough how in love with Teren I am. That man just makes meswoooooon!!! I loved how sweet and caring he was and I loved how much I could alwaysfeel how crazy he was for Emma. And speaking of Emma, she was such a wonderful heroine! Her attitude towards everything was both understandable and refreshingly down-to-earth. She and Teren were such a perfect match in every way. They really had a wonderful, heartwarming relationship and their banter was just awesome...

"If you bite me, it will be the last thing your vampire ass does."
He laughed "I wasn't going to How exactly were you planning on ending me anyways?" .
"I would find a way you just keep that in mind, buddy. I'm no snack."
He chuckled again and kissed me gently. "You might like it"

Now, one of my most favorite things about this book was how the whole story revolved aroundthem. Always them. Them and their families. There were no side stories or anything, this was their story - start to finish. There was no extra drama, everything made sense, and everything grabbed my attention and my heart.

And I really need to gush for a moment here at howfunctional Teren and Emma were as a couple. I mean, seriously! It was so refreshing to read about a couple who both wanted each other, both wanted the relationship and were willing to do anything to be able to be together. I loved how they worked through everything together. There wassucha feeling of "we're in this together".All the 'drama' in this book was external to the relationship. Nothing that would make you roll your eyes or be frustrated. No cheating, crazy ex's or threats to them being together. This was just straight up character-driven romance with a paranormal twist.

Another very central theme to this book and series is that of 'family' and the family dynamics in this are absolutely heartwarming! It was so wonderful seeing two warm, loving, tight knit family units who supported each other no matter what. Yet another thing I loved about this story.

I laughed and squeed so many times over the course of the book!! The majority of the it was just a wonderfully engaging but yet relatively calm reading experience right up til the 80% mark and then it gotintense!!!My heart was in my throat!! But it was just so so SO good!

There isabsolutely no cliffhanger at the end of this book. It's really a very reader-friendly ending because despite this being the first of a trilogy, it is absolutely safe to jump in right away. Thereisa happy new development revealed towards the end which will be central to the next book but the story here leaves off a really good place and technically, you could even read this as a standalone if you wanted so please don't hesitate to start if it sounds interesting to you!

And, if it helps to know this, I've actually already read the entire series and can tell you that it just keeps on getting better and better!

Now I know that some of you will be thinking about comparing Teren to Kellan because they're from the same author but let me tell you, as much as I absolutely adore Kellan, Teren is just such a completely different character that I truly never found myself comparing them at all. They really each stand on their own. Both just gorgeous characters who make it impossible not to fall for them.

Regardless of whether you're a fan of paranormal romance or not, I definitely think this is a story that every romance reader can enjoy :)

Highly recommended!

A paranormal book written by S.C. Stephens? Count me in! Conversion is a great PNR. It is funny, sweet, sexy and exciting. Readers beware... you may fall in love with a new vampire named Teren Adams! I just had so much fun reading this one!

Emma lives a normal, simple life. She is single, working at a job she enjoys, and has a family she loves. One day while on a coffee run, she bumps into someone. Not just anyone, Teren Adams. Teren is handsome, successful and single as well. After Emma apologizes, she gives Teren her card incase he wants to send her his dry cleaning bill. She hears from him much sooner then expected, but it’s not for dry cleaning, it’s to ask her out. She is a little surprised, but readily agrees. After dating Teren a few weeks, Emma is ready and willing to take things to the next level with Teren. Then she sees something. Something she can’t explain... Teren has fangs. Yep- fangs. He explains to Emma cautiously that he is just a ‘little bit vampire. He explains that his grandmother is half vampire, his mother is a quarter and so on and so forth. Emma is shocked, but takes it much better than Teren ever imagined.
Good men are hard to come by, and I'd had more than my fair share of duds. If his only drawback was a pair of sharp teeth and a perchant for hemoglobin, well, I'd take it.

All is well with Teren and Emma. She has a few concerns, a few questions, but she is handling everything quite well. Teren is elated that he finally found a woman who can accept him for who he is. Teren is so sweet, sexy, and swoony! Just adored him!

Teren’s family is insistent that they meet Emma. Emma is a little nervous, but agrees. Teren’s family is a trip... espcailly his great grandmother! Emma learns so much more about Teren and his kind while she is there. She also learns he has been keeping some things from her. Some big things that directly effect her. She is hurt. Eventually, she gets past it, but it’s hard on their relationship for a beat. Emma realizes she is falling for Teren. She wants him as is, any way she can get him. Teren is nearing his birthday, the birthday that will change everything. Well, almost everything...

With all the big changes coming up, his family pressuring them to not let the bloodline die, it’s a lot to take. These two are solid though, they are a perfect for one another and will fight to keep their relationship strong and together.

We were the perfect blend of fire and ice.

This book had me laughing, swooning, and on the edge of my seat. One part in particular had me emotional and in tears...
It starts off a little slow, it’s fairly light for the bulk of the book, then the end has you biting your nails to see how it’s gonna all turn out.

S.C. Stephens knows how to write. She has established that with her Reckless series and Collision Course. This is nothing like her other books, but still very good and very well written. Teren and Emma were both awesome characters. I love when I can like both of the main characters and neither are annoying. You will fall head over heals for Teren. He might just be my new favorite vampire book boyfriend ;) Teren... you can bite me anytime!

There were a few twists and turns, the story was as original as it could be for a vampire story. A bit of a different spin and I liked that a lot. There was no cliffhanger at the end (Thank god!) I enjoyed reading this and I am very much looking forward to continuing this series! Hopefully the second book comes out soon ;D

DNF at 64%.

So this is the story of Emma and Teren.
They crash into each other one day and from that day on things get heated and they start to fall for each other. Thing is: Teren is a “little bit vampire.
And while that was a shock for Emma, that used to put vampire in the same box as “Santa Claus, she eventually accepts Teren for who he is. Especially because “Hot is one of those things he is.
But Teren isn’t telling everything (Yeah, there’s still more to tell than “I’m a little bit vampire.) and things are going to get rough (er), so Emma must decide if this vampire is worth fighting for or if there are things you simply don’t get yourself into.

description

Well, you are wondering why I didn’t finish it and still gave it two stars, right?
It bored the hell out of me but the story isn’t bad. Just boring.
And the writing is pretty damn good.
Maybe one day, when I have more free time, I’ll get back to reading it but for now, I have too many books to read and very little time to do it, so I really can’t afford losing time in books that bore me.

However, if you’re a fan of PNR you should give it a try ;)

It will keep you entertainer from first to last page.

Conversion is the first book of a triology and i CANNOT wait to read book 2.

Stephens has managed to creat two main charachters that i love and care about along with a great plot which makes you wanna keep reading to the very end and it never gets boring.

Stephens is an incredible author and has a unique way to make you care about her characters.

Emma and Teran was a great couple. This is the best book with supernatural elements that I have read since Twilight.

DNF :(
I Got about 50% in & most of that was skimming. My biggest problem was that the couple got together & into bed by the end of the 1st chapter :( No tension, no build up, no real romance or anything...nothing to keep my interest. We know from the blurb that he is a vampire so no big reveal there.
Don't get me wrong I LOVE PNR's & I also loved Stephens' Thoughtless series. But this just didn't work for me.

I read this a year ago and loved it. Cannot wait for officially published version in fall 2013 so I can get back to these awesome characters!!!
My all time favourite book boyfriend:

My review:
If you like paranormal stories and enjoyed S.C. Stephens's style of writing before, you will love this book. Instead of writing whole book about how two main characters get together, author focuses mainly on already working relationship between Emma and Teren and problems during actual relationship. I really liked that, there are not many books like this out there.

I loved every single character in this book, especially Teren's family. Since the moment Emma meets his family, things got very interesting and I could not put this book down! All paranormal features and twists in this book were original and I enjoyed this story immensely. There was no cliffhanger but I felt in love with the world author created so I had to start sequel immediatelly.

Highly recommended!

This book was...ok. Barely.

Being dropped into their relationship was off putting. I like to see a couple meet. Not hear about it as a reflection.

I liked Teren, and my heart went out to him, but I like my hero's a bit tougher. He was going through something really horrible, and I admired his independence and faith in himself. But he had a very bad habit of keeping important details to himself. I really dislike liars. And while I understand that his secrets were huge and he was scared, he only doled out the truth in pieces and parts. And usually because his family spilled the beans. This is not a trait I admire in a book Hero. Otherwise, he was pretty bland. Kind of a boring guy, with a boring life.

His family was seriously wacked though. The shit they pulled with Emma when they met her. Totally uncool. Even giving them leeway for being a bit vampire, they were not hospitable.

Emma bugged the crap out of me most of the book. She was a young 25 years. I know some of her shtick was supposed to be funny. I just found it odd and inappropriate. She was good to Teren though, when she stopped thinking about herself. I was glad she grew a pair at the very end, but by then I was way too sick of the crying, whoa is me drama.

The sex scenes were either fade to black or almost that. Which is a big thumbs down for me.

As I write this review, I realize I disliked a lot about the book. I guess what kept me reading was it was an interesting take on a vampire book. It was a little different. Enough to keep me interested. Will I read part 2 & 3? Not sure I am THAT interested. I can live with the ending of part 1.

Safety gang safe

I would like to start by saying that I love the Thoughtless series! And I really really wanted to like this one. Well... I did not. I forced myself to finish it so I could give a fair rating. There were many things in this book that did not work for me.

First of all I did not like the idea of "a little bit vampire". Are you or are you not?!?! After some reading we actually understand that he in fact a real vampire so what the hell was that in the beginning?!

Then, if my boyfriend tells me he is a vampire... I believe I would be AT LEAST shocked at the begging. The reaction of the heroine was just not believable.

Nothing really happens in the book. We just follow a relationship day by day. I found it quite boring. Maybe I was just not the target audience and the problem was that I expected passion and excitement just like in the Thoughtless series.

This was a well rounded and well thought out vampire/human romance story. What was most interesting about this novel is the take on life as a vampire. In most PNR's the vampire in the couple portrays life and existence as a vampire as wonderful, exciting and with no downside. In every way the vampire is far superior and fortunate to be so.

This contemporary PNR shows a rare breed - a man/vampire, Teren, who's mother is a 1/4 breed vampire and a human father. His parents live with his grand mother who also mated/married a human being, now deceased and a great grandmother who is a full turned vampire. This family live on a ranch in a remote area and raise cattle. This is what they feed off of so they are not tempted to kill a human accidentally.

Emma runs into Teren on the street, spilling her coffee all over him and this is the beginning of a very passionate and committed relationship. Little by little Teren discloses information about himself.

I really enjoyed reading this book. There were some sections in the middle where my attention was diverted but I pushed on and boy was I happy because the ending of this book is exciting and thrilling....a perfect storm of trouble...one I did not see coming. Teren and Emma are devoted to one another and as a couple they fit. I liked how their relationship developed though the novel...it seemed normal and grew slowly over time. Emma had doubts and worries like most women do in a relationship and it was refreshing to see a story about a couple that was not some fatalistic first time, drawn to, love at first site, jump into bed kind of attraction (which has it's place) most PNR's seem to have. I was really convinced of their care & love for one another.

This story ramps up to a very climatic ending and over all, I enjoyed reading this and look forward to the next installment of this trilogy.

This was the most boring book about vampires that I have ever read. Seriously. There was only action at the tail end of this book. The rest was spent reading like a fucking interior design magazine and landscape magazine that never ended! Emma was boring. Fuck, Teren was boring! It was slightly humourous at times, but that did not save it. I skimmed the majority of this read. Even the action was boring. That's just...something else altogether.

Emma was a waste of time to read about. She was nothing special. I liked the idea behind Teren's lineage, but he was nothing special either.

Sorry ladies, but for those of you who thought maybe you could get away with some sexy time--for all the sex these two have, this is a clean romance...so, no, there's not even any hot sex to keep you entertained.

I can't believe this is part of a series...what more is there to tell? Do you have more house tours planned? More intricate details about a fucking bush? I don't know how I finished this. But I certainly won't be picking up any of the others.

2.5 stars It was just okay, still worth reading though.

I found this book so incredibly boring it’s almost difficult to write an actual review. Part of my problem with Conversion is I read the Thoughtless Series first and really expected that same level of storytelling. This fell so far short of being anywhere close to the same level as Thoughtless.

Let’s pretend that I don’t know S.C. Stephens is an amazing writer who is capable of developing characters worth reading about and just look at this as if some unknown nobody wrote the book.

Teren is a little bit vampire, not a whole vampire, but a little bit. Okay, that’s a new twist in the world of vampirism. Not only is he a little bit vampire but he will die after 25 years to become a whole vampire kind of. The premise of the story is unique and held my interest for quite a while until I came to realize just how very, very boring Teren as a person is. You expect vampires to be a little bit bad boy, and he just isn’t. In fact, he is nowhere even in the realm of a bad boy. He drives a hybrid for crying out loud. But then maybe that’s the point. Maybe Teren needed to be incredibly good so we would buy his love affair with the main character, Emma.

Emma, I had a hard time connecting with. She had this tragic back story that should have made her interesting, but I just didn’t feel it. It was difficult to care about what happened to her at all. If she disappeared from the story I don’t think I would have batted an eye. Part of her problem is she runs into this guy in the street, meets him for coffee, and suddenly they are in love. I realize that the story jumps ahead so they had been seeing each other for a while when she fell, but really it was only a few weeks. Their whole relationship felt more like they were together because they were comfortable and less about how they felt about each other. There were several references to them being intimate, but we never got any real detail. I’m not saying I want full blown erotic scenes, but some real intimacy and feelings would have helped me believe they were a couple.

I was about to give up. This book took me longer to read than any book I’ve read this year from the sheer boredom I experienced every time I tried to read a paragraph. Then all of a sudden it got good. The last 20% of the book was great. It was what I expected from someone like S.C. Stephens. There was a conflict. There was danger. I actually cared what happened!

The first 80% of this book is a very long drawn out look at a couple’s relationship and the pressures being put on them from Teren’s family. Despite their best efforts to please them, Teren and Emma continue to fall short in their goal. Emma, dating a very human like vampire, faces a lonely road of never being able to gossip about the man she’s falling for with those she loves for fear of how they will react to what he is. That’s about it. Several hundreds of pages with the same situations over, and over again. If you can make it through that. If you can hold on until that last 20% it will take you to a story worth reading.

Genre: Adult-Paranormal Romance
Setting: San Fransisco,Ca.

Fave line from the book- " I will drag your sleeping ass out into the sun, if you so much as drop a fang at my sister"- Emma in

Conversion totally took me by surprise it starts off slow, not even on a slow simmer just slow. And then i get closer to the end and it jump starts to life like a reviving heart. You don't even expect it, then BAM it kicks into high gear leaving the reader wondering how the hell are they both gonna get out of this alive?!

Conversion starts with Emma running into Teran literally. The poor girl spills her scolding hot latte all over Teran. Before he really gets a word out she is offering to pay his dry cleaning bill and hands him her card so he can contact her for the sure to be hefty sum. While at work as the assistant to the executive assistant Emma receives a call from Teran but it has nothing to do with the dry cleaning bill he wants to take her out on a date. And so begins their love affair. A few weeks in Emma is ready to take things to the next level and Teran gives into her wants. But first he also has something important he needs to tell her. And that something would be that he is a vampire.
Emma takes the news well and let's him know "No Biting" is allowed, he agree's.
Of course that rule eventually is negated. The closer the couple become the stronger the bond forms Emma decides she is in it for the long haul. Even after meeting his family; Emma sticks by her man. The information his family provides increases her worry for his well being though. And for good reason too.

Thoughts
At first i did not think i was gonna like the book it had a slow start and honestly it lacked the blood and sex i crave from my vampire reads. But then things took a turn and the steam factor shot up then the blood and biting... Suddenly the heat was on! I conclude that this book was worth the slow start and i cannot wait to read book2! I even got a little misty eyed at the end.

My Ratings
Characters- Lovable
Writing Style- Good
Plot/Storyline- A Slow build but worth the wait!!
Overall- Enjoyable, I'm Hooked!!

Back in 2012, I was introduced to Stephens' writing with Thoughtless. After reading that, I quickly devoured any book that she had written. One of those books was CONVERSION. Now, a year and a half later, I read through it for a second time and fell in love with the characters all over again!

When Emma meets Teren, she feels like she finally found someone special. And 'special' he is. Sure, Teren is successful, smart, funny, sweet, and romantic, but he's also half-vampire. Surprisingly, Emma takes this news fairly well. He doesn't even creep her out...much. What does creep her out a bit is his family. See, Teren's father is human, but his mother's family are vampires. And the women in his family can be a tad intimidating. But, Emma handles them well.

Other than adjusting to the fact that the man she's falling for is a partial vamp, there are certain issues that Teren must face. See, he's running out of time to produce an heir. After his 26th birthday, he will become full vampire. Then, there's also a psycho out to get Teren's family. So, let's just say Teren and Emma have their fair share of drama.

CONVERSION comes to end smoothly, but not without surprise. Stephens' sure knows how to write an ending that makes you want more, ASAP! Which is, in fact, exactly what I did after my first read. I had to see what was going to happen next for Teren and Emma and I have a feeling you will too! If you can't tell, I loved Teren and Emma. The story was great, but Teren and Emma made it special. If you're looking for a different take on the traditional vampire story, check this on out!

Quotes:
~"You're twenty five because that's my cover story and I'm sticking to it, or you're twenty five because you were birthed twenty five years ago?"

~"The moment you spilt his blood for me, to save me, you became my wife."
I blinked back the tears several times. Darn romantic vampire. "Teren, that was beautiful...and a touch creepy."

A wonderful story by a very promising new author. I loved the new spin she put on the traditional vampire story! The relationship between the main characters was amazingly tender, hot and 'real.' A great read that I highly recommend! Don't forget to check out the sequel!

~~2.75 HEARTS~~

I have to say that I’m a little disappointed with this book. I read the Thoughtless series and ABSOLUTELY loved it. Unfortunately this book was nowhere in the same spectrum as any of the books in the Thoughtless series. I didn’t like the attempt of it to be funny. I also didn’t like how Emma wasn’t in shock when Terren tells her he’s a vampire. I’m sorry but if my boyfriend of 1 month tells me that he’s a vampire then I’m running the other way FAR away from him. She was just nonchalant about it. Like he just told her that he has a fetish and it was like oh no big deal, my boyfriend’s a vampire.

I was hoping that it would pick up but it just kept on dragging and dragging.

It only picked up at the end, which was kind of a bummer because I think it could’ve been so much better if it was that way throughout the book. I think I’m ok with where the book ended even though I know there’s 2 more books in this series.

This was by no means a fast paced book, it was slow in the beginning but this was just building up the plot and story, it still kept me reading though! Once the story really took off I was hooked, I couldn't put the book down and had to read till the end. It does have a paranormal element to it, but by no means is it all about Vampires. I loved the story, I loved the twists and turns and I cannot wait to read the rest. Now that the background is out the way so to speak, I bet the remaining books are going to be full on. Full review to come.

This is a slow progressing yet heartwarming love story with a paranormal bite. Certainly aimed at the young adult audience with a penchant for hip vampirism and sassy heroines. This is a world apart from S C Stephens' thoughtless series so it's impossible to formulate any comparison between the two, so if you are a Twilight come Vampire Diaries fan, then I recommend you give this one a go. Definitely puts a unique spin on the Vampire genre with family values and continuing bloodlines playing a vital role.

BOOK REVIEW: Conversion - S.C Stephens

It’s time for Edward Cullen to move over...there’s a new boy in book town!

S.C. Stephens has certainly taken a popular genre and gave it a refreshing little tweak. Teren Adams is every girls wet dream, he’s good-looking, smart, intelligent, with a good job and healthy salary, their is just one snag, he’s also a ‘little bit vampire. However, Teren is different to all the ‘others. He wasn’t made... he was born!

When Teren’s Great Grandmother of Polish decent, Halina, was turned into a full vampire at nine months pregnant, not only did it induce labour but the ‘gene also passed onto her Daughter, Imogen.

And so the family tree grows when Imogen gives birth to a Daughter, only to then go through her full transition at the end of her twenty-fifth year. Teren Adams is the first born boy and Great Grandson of Halina. He has sharp hearing, fangs and holds a fondness of chicken blood, but he’s also a successful journalist in San Francisco with an addiction to coffee.

Emma is twenty-five, stuck in a mediocre admin job with a string of past mistakes. She had her fun in college, but those days are now over. Her only trustworthy confidante is her severely scarred sister, Ashley.

When Emma runs into the charismatic Mr Adams, she gets more than she bargained for, when she ruins his shirt with her extra hot vanilla coffee and offers to pay for his dry cleaning while handing him her business card.

One call is all it takes...

With a date in the bag, Teren and Emma gradually get to know each other, and after a month of dating, Emma is more than ready to take their relationship to the next level. Yet, when things get a little heated, Teren’s canines take on a mind of their own, when they extend after a heavy make-out session he suddenly finds he has an awful lot of explaining to do...

“I was a little surprised at how well I was taking things. I never realized I was so... progressive. Well, good men are hard to come by, and I’d had more than my fair share of duds. If his only drawback was a pair of sharp teeth and a penchant for hemoglobin, well, I’d take it. - Emma

With Emma’s decision made, she is willing to give Teren a chance, after all... how bad can it be? It’s not like he wants to rip her throat out. Yet!

Although, as their relationship develops, progressing from lust to love, Teren’s family are keen to meet the woman who has captured his heart, but they have an agenda of their own. You see...Teren is hiding a secret, and he’s petrified. Emma is his lifeline, his family’s link of continuing the bloodline, the question is, is she ready?

“Things will change, Emma...but one thing, will not.
“W󲹳?
“I’ll still love you. - Teren

*

I really enjoyed this book journey, journey being the operative word, as Conversion is a slow progression. I likes the fact that it wasn’t crowded or unnecessarily embellished with secondary characters. The sole purpose of Conversion is to witness the growth of a relationship that, against all odds, proves that love, however unconventional, has the potential to conquer all.

I loved the Adams and everything they stood for. They are not a coven, they are blood; descendants of one woman who they would kill to protect as they place their love and trust in each-other. They are the true definition of family.

Emma is a very strong female lead, she is level-headed and incredibly brave. Her decision to stand by her boyfriend’s side is fueled by her good natured soul and a willingness to help the man she loves, even though it threatens to end life as she knows it.

I really liked the last 20% of this book, it seemed everything was leading up to this pivotal moment, so my advice would be to ‘stick with it. The ending also proves an interesting premise for book two that had me squeeing, just a little. ;)

Fans of Twilight and The Vampire Diaries should give this one a go!

4 Stars.

Conversion by S.C. Stephens was a suprise for me. I was not an S.C. Stephens fan after reading Thoughtless. I just can't make myself like cheaters.I was very skeptical about this series but I read some reviews and the synopsis and it sounded interested. I am so glad I gave this one a shot. The book started off hilarious to me! I was LOLing and then all of the sudden the book got serious and frankly turned a little bit weird for me. Once I got to the ending of the book everything came together and I understood where everyone in the book was coming from including the weird Great grandmother rooting for the couple to have sex every time they were around her. (Yeah that part got a little too creepy for me.)In the end I was so pleasantly surprised by this book that I immediately got the second book.(Thank goodness for kindles!)

I was worried at first because the very first chapter told me that Teren was a vampire(a little bit anyway :o) and that Emma was ok with this ...........sometimes. Their relationship had no buildup I was worried without that build up and with so much information being available to us in the first chapter that there wouldn't be anything left to tell. I couldn't have been more wrong!

"Well to be blunt, I'm a vampire."-Teren
"You're a vampire. That's.....wonderful."-Emma
"If you bite me, it will be the last thing your vampire ass does."-Emma

If you like steamy romance scenes this book is probably not for you. The sex scenes were pg 13 rated at worst but there was tons of ushy, gushy, vampire romance. Teren could definitely be in the running for the next Edward Cullen......aside from the fact he doesn't sparkle.

The whole concept for this vampire book was original as far as I know. I have read a lot of vampire books and have never read one quite like this one. I did catch myself rolling my eyes a couple of times at the silliness of the story but I couldn't stop reading it and I wanted to know what happened to Emma and Teren.

As far as characters go my favorite character would have to be Halina She is Teren's great grandmother that was attacked and changed into a vampire while pregnant at the ripe old age of 19. She has been stuck in a 19 year old body for around 90 years. She was definitely the more predatory vampire of the bunch.

I will drag your sleeping ass out into the sun, if you so much as drop a fang at my sister. Play nice."-Emma
"I like you more and more everyday."-Halina

While this is not your traditional vampire series vampire and romance junkies a like will enjoy this read. I hear the series only gets better from here and I give this one 4 solid stars!

Really enjoyed this! Definitely slow paced in parts' 50-80% I was reading for days and days. and overdescriptive at times but I love the concept of this '"Metrovampire", Emma and Teren were an awesome and FUNCTIONAL (hallelujah !!) couple who were committed and passionate and faced everything together, and the last chapter melted my heart.
Can't wait for follow up, as I hear its even better

Random Highlight-y bits...

"If his only drawback was a pair of sharp teeth and a penchant for haemoglobin, well, I'd take it."

"You're a metro-vampire. you drink espresso and drive a hybrid and work for a lifestyle magazine and dress better than any man I know."

"Are you a couple hundred years old? Have you seen civil wars or the first cars or thin Elvis?"... he cocked his head at me "I'm 25".

A 4.5 actually . This was definitely enjoyable . It was more like a funny vampire movie in the beginning but things really got serious after a few chapters . A pretty decent read if you like vampire related stories . The main female character Emma is definitely witty . The main male character , Teren is a hot-bod with issues of his own . And his family , well " Adams family "as they are known are a whole bunch of fun !! Enjoyed it :)

**3.5** Emma runs into Teran one morning, and dumps her coffee all over his pristine white shirt. Emma is a normal 20-something woman, working a dead-end job for a crabby boss. Teran is a little-bit-vampire. He eats food like a human, has a heartbeat and works a regular job. He just occasionally drinks warm blood…but of course, there's more to the story.

This is a really sweet, non-threatening vampire romance story. No swashbuckling alpha males to be found here. Teran is a metro-vampire, he drinks cappuccinos, and he drives a Prius!

Teran isn't the smartest vampire in the crypt. He's constantly making stupid decisions about his health. Despite his head being in the clouds, he really is an endearing sweetheart, and treats Emma with adoration. Emma is surprisingly witty, and she seems more concerned with the intricacies of Teran's vampirism than he is. He's really lucky to have found her!

The bedroom descriptions are super vague and boring, which is surprising from the author that brought us the rock star Kellen!

The biggest complaint I have with the story, is the way Emma's younger sister is described. Ashley survived a house fire when she was nine. She has burns covering most of her body, including her chest, neck, and face. The author uses words like "horrific warped flesh" and "A woman who had the most horrific face you could imagine." What I can't imagine that's so horrific, is the fact that the author would describe a burn victim this way.

For me this was more 2.5 stars but couldn't bring myself to just mark 2 stars.

This is a sweet (very sweet) love story. Her take on the vampire history is interesting & that held my attention as to what will happen. She's very descriptive. So much so sometimes I found myself skipping over some of it.

Emma kinda got on my nerves sometimes. The constant "I smacked his arm, I smacked his chest, I smacked him roughy" all the smacking was way over done & had me rolling my eyes. I kept wanting it to say "I slapped the shit out of him" shoot even a I glared at him angrily would have been a nice break from her constant smacking him on his arm.

No real romance "adult" things happened. She kisses him, sat on his lap, rubbed his chest & only the times he would drink from Her thigh was even remotely "adult" for me & even that wasn't much. I think more 15 yr olds in this world today have done or say worse haha. A few curse word at the end showed up. Shit is the 1 that stood out. So weird for me as an adult it's marked adult content.

Teren was an interesting character but I wasn't swept up in him. His great-gran tho? I really enjoyed her character!

If I had to read Hot Ben one more time I think I was going to lose it! At first in getting him in the picture was one thing, but to keep calling her friends boyfriend that the whole time was just silly.

It was a tad slow to start but held my interest. It finally picked up at the end with the "bad guy" & I enjoyed how it all played out from there.

I did like the story so don't take my review of my dislikes or complaints to heart, but it was a little sugary for me at a lot of points. Why I felt that way I'm not sure yet. It flowed well in some places while it dragged in others.

I haven't decided if I'm going to read the others yet. Right now I won't. I'll take a break and come back & decide later. The ending was good enough for me at the moment.

I loved Thoughtless and Effortless by S.C. Stephens and I was excited to pick this book up. I must tell you that it's so different to the other books I've read of Stephens... but such a delight to read.

It's cute and funny... romantic and different.

DNF

Not tension, no build-up, no nothing.

In the first chapter:

They meet.
Go on a date.
Heroine pushes to have sex.
Heroine finds out the hero is part vampire.
They have sex.
They talk about family vampire history.

"THE END"

Side note: I feel that there should have been a THE END at the end of chapter 1.

I need and want tension and build-up in my romance stories especially in a paranormal romance. This was blah. The heroine was just too...ugh I can't even find the word.

I expect more from this author. Much more!

I love S.C Stephens, so I was waiting forever for this! It took me a while to shift my reading genre from my typical bad male hotness to a truly sweet once in a lifetime romance! I can say that this book is written really well. It has a slow build up into a crash of craziness that is one hell of an emotional ride!

This book is not the typical paranormal vampire read, but has more of a humanistic approach to a vampire-human love story. Teren Adams is a beautiful stranger that Emma literally runs into, dousing him with hot coffee. Teren is "a little bit" vampire, coming from a long lineage of vampires, with each family member less and less vampire. Teren wants a normal life as a human, but he knows at the age of 25 he will have a full conversion into the "dead" world. Teren and Emma have a great chemistry and are thrown into a whirlwind romance as time is ticking for Teren and his human existence. Teren and Emma have huge decisions to make as they must decide to stay together and under the pressure from his family to try to keep Teren's lineage going with baby. They must also survive Teren's conversion and believe that their love is strong enough to conquer anything, including his "dealthy thirst."

This book, like most first books in a series, has alot going on. There is introduction of characters with some back history. There is alot of future forecasting as to what dangers may lie ahead. there is the promise of a forever kind of love with new "beginnings"...but the sense that there wont be smooth sailing. I am really looking forward to following this through. I really love Teren and all his human qualities...I may love him more now that he is a whole lot vampire. I also, enjoyed Teren! Her reaction to Teren's vampirism is hilarious with her quirky questions and attempts to make him superhuman...she is just a normal girl who is in love with a boy, who happens to be a little bit vampire!!!!
