Chastity and her mom have always been on the run from something, but she never knew what until her mom disappears after chastity shows her a hidden part of herself. She leaves chastity not knowing who she is or what has happened. The next few days are miserable for chastity but her friend takes her in and helps her out. They run into a mystery dating back before they were born, and along with a preppy cheerleader who has hidden intentions, they look for any clue chastity's mom has left behind. The only thing they don't know is who is on their side and who is against them, but it soon becomes apparent when friendships fall. I read this book thinking that it was a finding yourself kinda thing, but I'm so glad I was wrong. It turns out to be more of a mystery than I thought, with an adventures subplot that you don't put together until the end. I thought it was really interesting, and I loved the look into life on the run from a view of someone who finds it normal. I would recommend this book to mystery enthusiasts, or really anyone just looking for something a little adventurous and different.
This was by far the best book I’ve ever read.I give it a 5 out of 5 stars because it was somewhat relatable for a girl the same age as the main character, so we have the same thoughts. I would HIGHLY recommend it to all boys and girls from high school ages and up because there is some false language and a lot of graphic scenes. In the beginning I really wasn’t all that interested in it and wasn’t paying much attention to it, but then something caught my interest. Once the book started getting into detail and had a good story line behind it, I was really intrigued and couldn’t put the book down. It started out with just a girl and her mother, living a “normal life. This girls name was Chassity, Chass for short. Shortly into the book you find out that she and her mother are runaways. It doesn’t give a reason, or hardly any hints, and that’s because the narrator, which is Chass, has no idea what’s going on either and she just follows her mother wherever she goes. Chass mother HATED music. When they drove from town to town, they sat in silence because her mother would flip out when she heard music, but on the other hand, Chass loved it. She has a true musical talent and has an amazing voice. One day, on Chass 16th birthday, her mother (whose name wasn’t given) goes missing. No one knows where’s she’s at or what even happened to her. All they found was blood that was linked to her DNA. Chass knows her mother isn’t dead, but she has no proof. She knows her mother wouldn’t leave her out of the blue. She knows that there is a reason. She was welcomed into her best friend’s house, Ben. She has 6 days to find her mother, or she will have to get put into Foster Care. Day by day, Chass is only stirring up more trouble when the only thing she’s trying to do is find her, but she’s approaching it all wrong. Suddenly, she gets some good news. A music director somehow found a demo of Chass singing and he wants to see her in person. She lies through her teeth and says that she has a show coming up at a local bar. She goes to the bar to ask if she can perform but he says no, you need to be 21. Of course, Chass lies through her teeth and says she is 21 but forgot her ID. Now that she has the gig, she needs to somehow show she’s 21. Another “bright idea! She remembers where the place was that her mother always got her fake ID’s from and she would walk there. When she gets to the area, she finds out the guy who owned the company has passed away. A by-stander in the streets tells her he can hook her up. It’s coming down to 2 days, she needs to find her mother. All of the sudden, the secret code comes in. It says that whatever is in the box, do not give it to anyone. She knows that the message is from her mother, they had discussed if she ever went missing, she would put an ad in a paper directed to a certain person. One more day, today is concert day. No one was there when she first started playing, but eventually people from the school started showing up. The music director shows up and asks to talk to Chass privately. She goes outside and sits in his nice fancy Cadillac. When they get in he tells her she can make millions, if she gives him the tape. He also says he’ll give her mother back, only If he gives her the tape. Long story short, Chass and her mother are reunited and everything is explained out.

This book has a fairly high 3.5 but its just not quite a 4 for me. Heres why: I couldn't like the main girl, Chass, as much as I wanted to. Its not that she is a bad character, I like it that she seems to be above all the peer pressure and high school dramas but still she has some things that just bothered me. Chass isn't mean, just inconsiderate of others. She didn't think twice about how her actions would effect the people around her. She takes people for granted and she realizes that eventually so that was good. I also didn't like the all of the stereotypes that were put in, but I it didn't bother me too much and I can understand why they were there.
The mystery, I thought was good and I like the way it all turned out good in the end. There is a some action and close calls which I thought were great. Its a good enough read I guess. Its more of a "Yeah, you could read it." not a "Yeah! You should read it."
Chastity Pureheart is a girl without a past. Everything about her is a fabrication, including her name. Along with her mother, Chass has spent as long as she can remember moving from one place to another with only a moments notice. She has her routine down pat--suitcase packed and ready to go at the front door at all times, hop in the quiet car and drive to where her mother has pointed to with her eyes closed on the map, stop at a library to draw a book of the shelves and choose a new name.
Chass has no idea why her and her mother are on the run. Her mother has never said a word about who her father is, or what she did before the running started, or why she hates music so passionately. All Chass knows is that they've been in High Hopes, Alabama, for three years now, and their lives are as normal as they've ever been. That is, normal until her best friend, Ben, buys her a guitar for her sixteenth birthday, and things go downhill fast.
First, Chass has to admit to her mother her love--no, obsession--with playing music, writing music, and singing. She knows it hurts her mother; after all, this is the same lady who doesn't even turn on the radio in the car when they're driving. But Chass can't hold her love of music in any longer, and her mother storms out of the house in a huff--and disappears off the face of the earth.
Suddenly, everyone is looking into the life of Chastity Pureheart and her mother a little too closely. For too people who have spent years avoiding public scrutiny, their lives are now under a microscope. She has a police chief treating her like a criminal, the parents of her best friend accusing her of all sort of mischief, and a mother that she's determined to find.
FAKE I.D. is a great mystery for all ages. Filled with action-adventure, a very believable mystery, and lots of thrilling twists and turns, you'll find yourself immersed in the life and times of Chass and her mother--and the reason for their life on the run.
In Fake ID by Walter Sorrells, when her mom goes missing, Chastity Pureheart has a week to find out the truth about who she is and who her mother is. Chastity has moved around all her life and taken new identities in every place they go. Throughout the book, more information about her mother’s life presents itself to Chass, and she discovers that her mother was just trying to protect her all these years. I think the message of the book is that true identity is not your name, but who you are and how you were raised. Although I agree with the message, I was disappointed with the book because the end was unsatisfying and the writing was too simple. The whole story was a little repetitive, and therefore seemed like there was no real purpose behind writing or reading the book.

It was pretty good. It kept my interest for the most part, but I probably wouldn't read it again.
A little Nancy-Drew-ish at times with the unrealistic action scenes and amateur sleuthing. Like there was one point where she was trying to steal some fake IDs from the sheriff's office and it took her all of 2 seconds to conveniently "find" the key to the desk in the first place she looked. Then there are some scenes where Chass somehow defeats these thug-type guys that are twice her size, even tackling one of them and getting his gun at one point. Um, yeah, okay whatever. All the high school stereotypes going on were annoying as well, with all the cheerleaders lumped into one personality. It was actually kind of strange because the author would use the word cheerleader as a major descriptive feature of the characters as if that would let us know so much about them.
Side note: there was one point when I got so confused because I think there was a mistake in my book where he called Brittany by the name Tiffany and I was like flipping back and being like who the F is Tiffany?
"Fake ID" is about a girl named Chastity (aka Chas) and everything that she is going through. For the longest time, she and her mother were always moving, changing their names and ID's. Chas never knew the reasoning of why they were always moving and changing identity. This book was very interesting. I liked the action that it had in it. I also liked that some people can relate to what Chas had went through. I liked the action because it was cool how they described the murders and I liked how detailed it was. It did scare me a little when I was reading it at night, but other than that it was a great book, and I enjoyed it.

In the beginning, it was good, but then everything went downhill from there. First of all, I cannot for the life of me like Chass. There was another comment commenting on this and saying how it wasn’t her character, no, it was 100% her character. Chass doesn’t like to think about the consequences - she only likes to do. Take Ben for example. For one she rejects him and then regrets it later in the story, blah blah blah, understandable. However, when Addison, Ben’s father, turns himself in Ben turns to Chass and blames it on her. I don’t agree with Ben, but I can see how he got to that conclusion because of the conversation that went in the night before. The part that made me literally put this book down and groan was when she kept going back to Ben. It was clear that Ben didn’t want anything to do with her and yet she still tried to reason with herself with excuses to go and talk to him. Annoying. Second of all, this whole thing started because the mom decided to say peace and disappear. Over dramatic. I don’t care what her reasoning was and how pitiful it was, it was straight up childish to just leave your kid without a single thing to tell her that you’re ok. Not to mention, I thought Chass was going to find her mom. I thought that this whole lead up was Chass going to figure out the mystery and further out where the heck her mom went and whatnot, but no. The mom emails her. Annoying. That whole buildup for what. Also, Chass decides to get a gig?? Chass was heartbroken about her mom’s disappearance to the point where she was adamant about not going to foster care because her mom was alive. In the midst of this grief you’re telling me that she perks up at the thought of singing at a bar because some guy thought she sounded good? She went through the five stages of grief a little bit too quick for me. I’m going to keep on going. I realize that Chass wanting to keep the name Chass despite her knowing her real name later on is supposed to be symbolic and heart warming, but with everything that annoyed me with this book this only added on. She made such a big deal about not knowing her real name, but when she finally learns it she’s not happy, like at all. She’s disappointed and it’s like all those years of wonder and grief were just thrown away. In short, I don’t recommend. The plot was good, execution not as good.

The book Fake IDs by Walter Sorrells is a fictional mystery book. The main character Chass is the main character in the story she is a strong and caring girl. She lives with her mom and has no siblings. One day her mom just leaves the house without a reason and Chass tries so hard to find her mom doing anything she can to get her back. Chass loves music but her mom doesn’t not allow it to play in the house and will not listen to it. Chass has secret lesson with her best friend to learn how to play guitar and continues to be very good at. While trying to find her mom she is trying to make something out of her music career. This story takes place in a small town in Alabama. I really enjoyed this book while reading the book you don’t know what is going to happen it is very mysterious. There town is very mysterious and many strange things have happened in this town. Chass and her move every 3-4 years and every time the move they legally change their names Chass doesn't know what her real name is but she doesn't think of it as a big deal she just thinks its normal. Chass is offered a really big music label but they want something very important to her mom that she cant get away later in the book Chass has groups of guys trying to find her threatening to kill her if she doesnt give it to them will she survive?
Walter Sorrells' Fake ID is about Chass learning the truth about her mothers dark past and why they have lead such secretive and anonymous lives. Chass doesn't know her real name; It changes everytime they move towns, which is very often. They are celebrating Chass' 16th birthday with her mom and best friend Ben. Ben got Chass exactly what she wanted. A brand new guitar. This is terrible for her however, because her mom is completely against music and rarely allows it. The fact the Chass has been learning to play the guitar is a huge betrayal to her mother. Chass says "I knew what was coming. The present and the whole big ugly scene that would follow." Chass had no idea just how "big" and "ugly" this scene would get. She upsets her mom by rebelling and playing her new guitar which causes her mom to storm out of the house. The problem is, she never comes back. Having no family, she will be forced to become an orphan. She now needs to find out where her mom is and why she has disappeared. This passage is important because it is the start of how she learns her mothers dark past with Kyle Van Epps, the president of a big media company. She finds out why she was never able to know her real name or lead a normal life.
While reading Fake ID by Walter Sorrells, I got really into it and finished very fast. After I finished the book I realized that I was left wanting more. This book is about a 16 year old girl and her mom that have been moving from town to town ever since she was a baby, taking in a new identity every time. She doesn't know why, but when some odd people come knocking on her door looking for the tape, she is left wondering what this was all about. When her mom disappears on her 16 birthday, she is left with everyone but her, in the small town of High Hopes Alabama, believing the worst.
I liked this book because it left you wondering what was going to happen next. Although I enjoyed this book very much, I found that some points were filled with a lot of detail one moment and little to none the next. Fake ID is an action packed book with something on every page that makes you never wanting to put it down. Overall, Fake ID is definitely a great book that I would read again.
I think that young adults would enjoy this book the most. This book is one that i would recommend to a 6th or 7th grade student.
In the book Fake ID by Walter Sorrells, Chastity seems like an all around, normal individual. What you don't know is that her and her mother have been on the run for a long time. Although, only Chastity's mother knows what they are running from. Chastity up and moves whenever her mother feels the need to. They change their names and run to a different town every time. They both begin to get used to moving around a lot. Then one day, her mother ends up dead. Chastity is then motivated to find out why this had happened to her mother and why they were always on the run. She faces many challenges while trying to seek out for her answers. I really enjoyed this book and I recommend it to anyone that is interested in a little mystery.
in the book "Fake ID" by Walter Sorrells, 16 year old chastity and her mom are on the run and chastity doesn't know why. she cant talk to her mom about it because her mom gets mad. Chastity's mom disappear and its up to her to find her before 6 days or shes put into foster care. there are many reasons why i gave this book 4 stars. i enjoy suspenseful books and it kept me hooked because i wanted to find out what happened to the mom. also it in includes "teenage dialogue and emotions" which are relatable. this is sorrels first young adult novel in the series called "hunted" and i cant read the next one.
I liked Fake ID. It was a good mystery. Chastity Pureheart and her mother have been on the run as long as Chass can remember. With each new town, there is a stop at the library where new names are selected based on characters from a fiction book. Chastity is now in high school and is tired of running. When her mother disappears, Chass must figure out what to do; does she run like she always has, this time on her own, or does she stay and try to figure out where her mother went and why they've always been on the run. The story is pretty straight forward with enough action to keep the reader involved. Fake ID is the first book in a series about Chastity and her mother called Hunted.
My novel was Fake ID (Hunted, #1) the gene of this book is mystery and nonfiction. The book is not very interesting, the setting is in High Hopes city Al, the main characters are Ben and Chastity Pureheart she goes by Chass, Chastity's mom and her have been on the ¨run¨ her whole life moving to different cities, changing names and addresses, she is on the run until her mom goes missing on Chastity`s 16th birthday. Now her best friend Ben and her are now on the hunt to find her mom. Ab For some of the time she stays with Ben and his family, a couple days after staying with them the police find (Alison's Chastity's mom) car outside of an abandoned house the police tell Chass that they found blood that traced back to her mom's blood, the police wont let Chass go look in the abandoned house and she is suspicious. The police think that her mom is dead but Chass doesnt think that she is and she will have to find her. I rate this book a four because it didn't grab my attention first then started to get better throughout the book, anyone who likes action, mystery and fiction would like this book.
I thought that the book was really good. At first I didn't know what it was talking about but later on in the book I knew. They were hiding for a long time from a guy named Kyle because Chass mom had a tape of Kyle and some other guy named Jimmy saying that Kyle killed a girl and Chass dad. Then they ended up putting Kyle in jail. Chass and her mom thought everything was good now until Chass met Josh Emmit but then he got killed and gave Chass like a silver bar. After an Inspector took Chass and her mom down to the station and Chass wouldn't let her daughter get put on National TV.
The author seemed confused as to whether they wanted to write a young adult book or an adult mystery. It wins the award for non likeable characters. The premise sounded intriguing but it definitely didn’t deliver. Every time the MC wanted something her solution was to either let a Male look down her shirt or to threaten to blackmail someone. So unrealistic.
This is a great introduction to mystery thrillers for a young adult audience. I read the first half of this book when I was in early middle school, and recently stumbled across an audiobook copy. So happy I was able to complete the book and will keep the following 2 novels of the trilogy in mind when I’m in between big reads!
I have a lot of feelings about this book. First of all I find Chass and almost all of the other characters unlikable. I can also tell the author tried to have major character devolvement but skipped over why and just got to like the changed them. (if that makes any sense) And what was with the sheriffs daughter just deciding to help cause she was bored? One minute she was the mean girl then she was best friends with Chass seemly over night? And Chass tells her her biggest secret not her best friend of 3 years? And how did Brittany (sheriffs daughter)and ben become an almost thing? The only build up was her like half flirting with him like 3 times at most. And all of a sudden everyone loves Chass cause she has a gig? At first I thought maybe they were just using her for fake IDs but they ended up actually liking her but according to Brittany they only said horrible things about her and her mother. Also if all of them but mostly Chass just said what she wanted to and skipped all the build up they would’ve solved a lot of problems. Like when Chass wanted to tell Ben that she had evidence his dad didn’t commit murder she could have just said it. I get maybe she was trying to be gentle but she knew how mad he was at her. It was obvious that he wasn’t going to listen to her. Also he should’ve blamed her for his dad turning himself in for a murder he thought he committed. Sure she did drudge it up but he probably was going to sooner or later. Also more about that murder( for context I'm talking about Ben's dad, Addision, was in high school and like a varsity athlete) And he was mad at someone who was literally a miner mind you for sleeping with his dad? He wasn’t mad at his dad but he was mad at her? And he punched her? he seriously punched her? And I don’t care about deflecting blame or the fact that he was drunk but his dad was in the wrong 1000000% not her. And she died for it cause he couldn’t understand how it isn’t always the woman’s fault. But she wasn’t even a woman she was in the 10th grade. And how her talk about when he was telling Chass about it. He literally called her a sl*t like STOP BLAMING HER cause he obviously is. And then the making his dad look like the victim when he was literally a predator. I’m not going to feel sorry for him, he though him and his sons reputation was more important than a persons life. And when they tried to paint Addision as the victim too. All I could think was NOOO THE VICTIM IS THE DEAD GIRL NOT YOU!!! And well it was sh*tty for jimmy(? i think his names jimmy to) make Addison think he did it Addison still went with it he said he was going to call the cops but after like 2 seconds of persuasion he just was like never mind and didn't tell anyone where the body was? I just hate how they paint him as the main victim in the situation. Even though he didn’t kill her he was one of the reasons she was murdered. But, back to Chass and Ben and people whenever Chass needed something she would with flirt with someone (like grown adults even though she was like 15) or she would blackmail them. And why didn't her mom just turn the tape into the FBI or something she doesn't need to build a case the FBI can do that and she can get put into witness protection. Why did she just keep running I get she was scared but even after she was in like her 1st fake identity she could have gone too the FBI. And chase didn't think it was little suspicious that she gets a call for a record deal right when everything is going down? And she didn't think to maybe google him to make sure he's legit? I could go on forever but I going to stop here (sorry for the spelling errors and the over use of like an literally)

The book that i just finished reading is called Fake ID. What really attracted me to this book was that it was a mysterious novel. There were so many questions with little answers and throughout the whole book, there became more questions followed by answers. The dilemma was very shocking and astonishing which hooked me onto the book. The plot was very dramatic and very detailed which was what i really liked about it. The book is about a teenage girl named Chasity who didn't know who she was in general. Her and her mother have been running away since she was born. They have both gone from state to state, getting new ids and passports. She was a completely different person in every state. It was hard for her each time that she had to change identities. imagin, it's so hard to move and still be the same person, but being someone completely different, its even harder. Chasity wasn't allowed to ask any questions about why they were running away, who her father was, and why music was a bad thing. Being a teenager, Chasity has been tired of everything. To make things worse, one day her mom randomly disappears on her birthday. This involves the police and investigators that ask so many questions. She doesn't know anything about her mom or herself so how was she suppose to answer any questions at all? that is when Chasity decides to set out to look for her mom, and for herself. Along the whole way of her trying to find her mom, she is putting herself in danger. She doesnt know what is lying behind everything she passes. all she knows is that she has to find her mother, and all she has is a couple of days. there are many successful things about this novel. the book was like a puzzle that needed to be solved. it felt as if you were with Chasity the whole time trying to fine everything in her life. you were able to feel the same emotions as her because it is very dramatic and shocking. this book was very detailed and was so mysterious that made me continue to read all of it. i had no problem reading it all because i enjoyed every page of it. such an amazing book.
