Richard Thanks for your usual succinct and insightful review. I agree that the 2 state ‘solution� is essentially dead. The Israeli insistence on settlements and the impact of its economic blockade of Gaza triggered the 10/7 attack. There seems to be no way the two sides can build the trust to move towards any kind of diplomatic solutions at this point. Unless/until the USA, Europe, the Arab nations, and Iran can find ways to pressure each side to stop their destructive engagement with each other the cycle of war will continue.

Joseph Stieb Thank you. That's a somewhat passive way to describe 10/7, imo. I think the failure to assign agency/responsibility to Palestinians has been a real drag on the movement. There were many ways to respond to those conditions; the word "triggered" doesn't capture that. But otherwise, I couldn't agree more. Frankly, the most likely outcome right now seems like a dragging out of the status quo.
