I'm glad I opened that to look at the blurb, MM!
Looks good!"
It's a great story, if you read it, then I hope you enjoy it as much as I did :)

it doesn't get old, a real joy to read :-)"

I've downloaded it and have read the first few pages. Gripped already but I have to put it down now to make dinner. Argh!

I recall you mentioning that elsewhere. You think it's something I'd like?

lol, enjoy your dinner :)
Her other book Salt to the sea is along the same lines, but based in Germany. It's very good too. I gave that one a 5* rating as well.

Ask Dave, he knows you better, and whilst I have the paperback somewhere, I read it on the kindle :-)
So he will surely know it

I've got to catch up on Steve's books.

to be fair, some just look down their noses at you waiting for you to do something that proves to them you're sentient and worth talking to

As do all cats.

Love Zelazny, and haven't read that one!

Yep. I' must get around to rereading it again soon.

fiction: The Beautiful Dead

non-fiction:

Love Zelazny, and haven't read that one!"
It was new to me, and suddenly popped up on a Kindle recommendation to me from Ammy. Loved it.

The last one that was easily a five star read for me was The Secrets She Keeps

The Books of Pellinor (The Gift is the first one and there are four in the series.) It's a bit of a YA epic saga type thing but not too young, if that makes sense.
I also gave Kicking the Bucket List 5 stars.
And the first couple in the DCI Ryan series (Holy Island is the first one) were five stars as well. The later ones have been 4-4.5 stars so far :)

Best book I've read in a while: /review/show..."
The best sci-fi defines us as humans. DM makes you think about what you take for granted that may be the most important thing in life. Completely agree 5-stars.

Agree back, another fab read.

/book/show/9...
The memoirs of Joseph T Ward, a US Marine Scout Sniper, during the Vietnam war. Very good...if you like that sort of thing?

Its about a guy (called Bob) who signs up to one of those places that cryogenically freeze your head when you die. Then 100 years later he wakes up to discover that he's now a computer program, and he's about to become the controlling AI for the Earth's first interstellar space probe . . .
Very innovative, and quite amusing / sad / poignant in places.

I'll need to purchase sweat pads and shoulder bands.
Or something.

Frikken enormous hair, which isn't a problem. All I need is a bit of humidity.

Bacsically the book covered every single thig I did in 80s"
looking back, "milked a lot of cows, got married" seems to sum up the 1980s for me :-)

Really should not be five stars except God I love the 80s."
Loved that book, & Wil Wheaton narrates the Audible version, which is even more awesome. There's a movie coming next year too (trailer on YouTube, but it tells you nothing of the story)
What was your's?
