I have to admit, amnesia plots make me roll my eyes, too, but you made it work :)

You made that amnesia work without falling into too many cliches. And I hate amnesia plots.
Like the cheese, I stand alone. I like a good amnesia plot, as long as it's written deliciously. (I quite liked Tempting the Bride.) Works for me when it brings together 2 people who would otherwise keep misjudging each other. I always enjoy the WTF moment when the amnesiac realizes he/she has been consorting with "the enemy".
I'm with stl. Love amnesia when done well.
Looking forward to your WW1 novella. I really love reading fiction from that time period.
