Cuong, Know Not Why is one of very favorite books ever and I have a couple suggestions if want something similar.
A unique voice and humor seem to be close to what you are looking for.
In YA there is How To Repair A Mechanical Heart by J.C. Lillis
In their 20's is a book called The Epic Love Story of Doug & Stephen by Valerie Z. Lewis.
You might also try Superhero or Blame It On The Mistletoe by Eli Easton.
