Massive murders occur in Baghdad from MEASS (Middle East Alliance of Sunnis and Shiites), a terrorist group formed after the fall of ISIS. Iraq is determined to thwart the terrorists. Arif Yildiz, the deputy national intelligence director, presents a scheme to Iraq’s International Intelligence Service to acquire a new US military weapon. With this weapon, they can obliterate MEASS, but they need it NOW. The plan will be approved and implemented by the spy branch of the Iraq government, the Tariq'Allah, the Shining Star of Allah. It starts with the kidnapping of two wives of military intelligence officers, Paul Remmich and Eric Miller. Threatened with their spouses deaths, they are forced to go to Istanbul. Hoping to soften the men’s animosity and gain their willing assistance, the Iraqis plan a lavish distraction. Unfortunately, the trip to a Mediterranean resort with their wives doesn’t quite work out as the spy organization hoped. The CIA slips into the picture, determined to save the women’s lives and get them out of Turkey. Forced to adjust their plan, the Tariq'Allah selects Paul Remmich to negotiate for the weapon in Washington, DC. When the officer presents the demand for the weapon, its rejection places his and Miller's life squarely in danger. Upon Remmich's return to Turkey, he finds the failure angers and humiliates the Iraqis, and more time passes as they consider their options. When the only recourse appears to be the death of the Americans, the CIA again attempts a rescue with a clever scheme. Enraged by the attempt, Tariq'Allah follows the escape path, and a gunfight ensues. The final showdown will determine whether the Iraqis achieve the weapon they so desperately need and whether or not the American officers return home in one piece or in body bags.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Karl grew up in the Catonsville area with four siblings.

While this is the 4th book in the series, it is only my 2nd book read. I enjoyed that some of the book highlighted the wives of Miller (Candice) and Remmich (Lilly) vs. Eric and Paul. Iraqi terrorists, Tariq'Allah, kidnap the wives in a remodeling stunt and take them to Istanbul. They hope to leverage the kidnapping to gain control of the US missile gun control system. CIA agents Yilmaz and Damino are on the trail. I wonder how the bumbling Miller and Remmich, who always forget to do something critical, will fare in the next book. Fortunately, Candice is a smart cookie! A good thriller.
Karl Braungart, who is a former military intelligence officer, draws on his experience and knowledge of Middle East politics and society in the Remmich/Miller Series. In book 4 of the series, the author once again delivers a great book, Triple Deception. The story is about Russian, Iraqi, and Iranian spy tactics, Braungart crafting an incredibly realistic story and one that feels very current. The action centers around the kidnapping of Remmich and Miller's wives in Istanbul, which leads to a major response from military intelligence, the CIA, and the Iraqis. The author's ability to weave together these elements is masterful and really shines in this series. For those who love espionage, this is a perfect read. Highly recommend.
A very intriguing fictional story, yet full of real life situations and this time anything can happen.
In this book, Karl Braungart writes a very exciting story. Military meets thriller meets espionage. This book has everything to be a success in my opinion. It all starts with the kidnaping of two military wives. In the blink of an eye, what was supposed to be one of the smoothest military operations in Iraq, becomes one of the most stressful interventions. Alliances are created, treasons are committed; the author did an amazing job connecting all the dots in this story. A must read if you enjoy this kind of genre.
Delaware author Karl Braungart brings his extensive experience in military intelligence gained during the Cold War as well as his familiarity with Middle East politics and social movements to his Remmich/Miller Series. The series explores Russian, Iraqi, and Iranian spy tactics immersed in amazingly realistic stories. TRIPLE DECEPTION is Book 4 of the series.
Braungart is well established as a master storyteller, and this new episode shines brightly, exploring the Middle East, focusing on terrorist groups so adeptly described that the reader becomes immersed in the action. Remmich and Miller must deal with the kidnapping of their wives in Istanbul - an incident that realistically launches a vivid response by the military intelligence officers, the CIA, and an Iraqi response that plays our cinematically. This is such an exciting series by Braungart that for full appreciation of the skills of the author it is highly recommended to read the entire four volumes. For those who appreciate and enjoy tense drama that seeps out of espionage thrillers, this book is a must read. Very well written and compelling. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book
Honestly this read is different than my usual read and that is what makes jt unique. Although this is the 4th book of the series but, this has been my first one. The anticipation and excitement of what happens next is capable of keeping the readers hooked till the end. The story follows the deputy national intelligence director, Rif Yildiz, as he devises a plan to acquire a new US military weapon that will help Iraq defeat MEASS, a terrorist group that has been causing massive murders in Baghdad. Then comes a twist when the wives of military intelligence officers are abducted. This follows unfolding of further twists and turns and brings more definition to the story as well as the characters. Although the read is having a definite and different genre but the adequately paced writing can keep the readers hooked. The characters and subplots are realistic and that adds an extra facet of engagement. Overall the read is good and can be completed in a sitting if you like war based thriller reads.
I've been following along since book 1, and I like that Braungart is consistent in his style. The character overview at the front of the book can help if you still need to read through all the books, but I recommend reading them all to stay up with Remmich, Miller, and the rest of the cast.
Braungart immediately opens with a gripping scene following a terrorist. This sets the pace, and the author keeps it moving forward in this style for most of the book. The personal stakes, though consistently high with Remmich and Miller, seem to continue to escalate throughout, with the book focusing on their wives' abduction. The book even ends with an excellent resolution for this book, but it opens up a whole different series of questions I hope he pulls toward with the next.
I've said it once, and I'll say it again, if you're into spy tales and a lot of action, check this series out!
This is the forth book in the series of Remmich and Miller, but this time we get to dive a lot more into their wives as they are kidnapped. Karl Braungart once again gets right in keeping the novel moving at a great pace. This espionage thriller is full of action and drama. If you love a military story, this series is a must read! Karl Braungarts experience with the military intelligence, the Middle East, and his way of writing will make the reader feel like they are thrown into a nonfiction high stakes story.
It is a thrilling page-turner that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. The story follows the deputy national intelligence director, Arif Yildiz, as he devises a plan to acquire a new US military weapon that will help Iraq defeat MEASS, a terrorist group that has been causing massive murders in Baghdad. However, the plan quickly goes awry when the wives of military intelligence officers are kidnapped, forcing Paul Remmich and Eric Miller to negotiate for the weapon in Washington, DC.
The writing is fast-paced and engaging, with plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing. The characters are well-developed, and their motivations are clear and believable. The tension between the Iraqis and Americans adds an extra layer of suspense to the story, and readers will be on the edge of their seats wondering if the American officers will make it out alive.
This is an excellent thriller that will appeal to fans of the genre.
Triple Deception by Karl Braungart is the fourth book in the Remmich/Miller Series. In this piece of work, the wives of Remmich and Miller are abducted after Arif Yildiz, the deputy national intelligence director, comes up with a plan to achieve the latest US military weapon that could help Iraq fight MEASS, a dangerous terrorist group. How will Remmich and Miller rescue their wives?
Karl Braungart’s books hook the reader by presenting an intricate world and battle between god and evil, in this case, terrorist organizations, the military, and other special organizations like the CIA or Iraq’s International Intelligence Service. Like the other book, this one also takes the reader on a journey full of danger, crime, and betrayal, where the good guys need to come up with clever plans to outsmart the bad guys. A fast-paced piece of work full of adrenalin and action.
