No prišla búrka a stratila sa. A s určitým problémom.

Awesome!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤❤️💜🩵
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌍
Character development: ☹️☺️😊😍🥰

The Hero: Turner - he is former special forces who suffers from severe PTSD. He got a dishonorable discharge for liking killing too much. For the past decade, he has been living in his family hunting cabin in the remote Colorado wilderness. He has a dog named Gunnar that was given to him by his older brother. His dog alerts him when he has a PTSD episode and helps to bring him out of the past and back to the present. He only goes into town for groceries about once a month because he hates crowds and people.

The heroine: Em - she is some sort of writer who has been dating a guy named Adam for the past three years. She is driving from Oklahoma to Colorado to spend the holidays alone with him at a cabin to try to get their failing relationship back on track. Though when she is nearly there, she gets a call from her best friend who tells her Adam thinks things are over between them and is only spending the holidays with her, so his friends think he tried to make things work.

The story: when the light snow turns into a blizzard, and Em gets in to fight with Adam over the phone, and breaks up with him, her GPS takes her in the wrong direction then completely freezes. She ends up spinning out and getting stuck in Turner’s driveway. She is forced to spend the next few days with the man who shot at her when he found her trespassing on his property.

I actually really liked this one and wished it would have been longer. Turner was definitely a complicated guy. He had been through a lot in his life and was mentally damaged from the lasting effects. When he would have a flashback, he would black out and become very dangerous to anyone around him. Not that he wasn’t already dangerous when he was in his normal state of mind. His story is so tragic that you can’t help but feel for him (as did Em). You can see why she was so conflicted about him. The book is a novella at only 190 pages, but they are packed with a really good story.

I'm just going to get straight to the point with this one... I loved this book more than I should have.

Is it unhinged? Yes, yes it is. Will this book have you saying WTF? Most definitely. Is our MMC a psychotic walking red flag? Absolutely. Will the storyline keep you engaged? Yep. Listen this book has everything we love in a dark romance; a morally grey MMC, a little Stockholm syndrome, and lots of questionable things.

So if you are looking for a dark romance that is a quick read that involves an FMC who takes the wrong turn down a driveway that ends up with her falling in love with a psychotic MMC who suffers from PTSD and likes to unalive people, then this is your next read!

But for real, just do yourself a favor and read it. You might be surprised with how much you love it! I was pleasantly surprised.

This is a really cute story.
Dark romance has screwed my version of cute lol.
But it was a really cute story.
I love Turner. He is amazing, and I am absolutely in LOVE with the mental health rep in this book.
The veteran trope is always great, but the fact that this amazing author was able to get at the huge thing that is Veterans mental health, while still being able to write an amazing story was 🤌🏻 just it was done so so well.
I very much recommend this book. It’s on the lighter side of dark.

If I said I couldn’t put this one down, would you believe me? It kinda seems like I’m on repeat sometimes but still that’s probably because I love reading, losing myself in a storyline
😉

This one…I really can’t tell you, I don’t want to spoil any of it. Suffice to say, it’s not like any Christmas storyline I’ve read before, it pulled me in. Annie says it’s a slow burn and I suppose it is, however, you read it and the story keeps you there, hanging on the precipice waiting for something, you just don’t know what until it comes…and it does.

Our FMC Emersyn, is actually strong mentally and able to take on whatever he throws her way, until she isn’t. Our MMC Turner, first impressions are he’s a psychopath, I guess they aren’t far wrong but there’s more to him that’s more in depth. Their relationship is tumultuous to start with, settling down, exploding, to the point as a reader you are at an emotional impasse (might be hormonal lol), for it to turn and go another way. I am struggling to make it make sense, which can only mean one thing: read it for yourself. You may hate it, but that’s why reading ensures we are not all the same!

Just gonna put it out there, I loved it, the storyline for me just worked.

Well, that was a good rough draft!

Seriously though, it was a good book and story line. However, there were so many grammatical errors. This book was only 190 pages long, these errors were very noticeable and so many. You would think if it was edited properly they would have been caught.

I would have given this 4 stars if it was written better.

Probably NOW my favorite of any book Annie has released.

Firstly, I’ve been here since the first book Annie Wild has ever released and her writing growth is phenomenal.

The Wrong Drive is definitely a wrong place, wrong person and wrong time kind of situation. Our MMC suffers from extreme PTSD, which is handled beautifully, and because of the he has shut himself away from the world except when people make the mistake of coming on to his property.

Our FMC in a short span of time wiggles her way into his heart and his life. Stockholm is at play in this book but I absolutely loved watching them fall for each other even if it wasn’t quite the normal way.

What would you do if you were in a blizzard, made a wrong turn in a strangers driveway, and found yourself being shot at by an unstable but extremely attractive ex Marine? In reality, we'd try everything we can to escape... maybe 🤷‍♀ Meeting her boyfriend at a cabin for the holidays, Emersyn gets lost and ends up on the wrong property with a not so friendly welcome. Held hostage during a storm in this unhinged strangers cabin, she tries to learn more about the reclusive, violent man she's stuck with. Over the two weeks she's stuck with Turner Martin, not only does she discover some of his darkest parts, but she also gets to experience it all first hand.
This was a heart-pounding, suspenseful read. Turner Martin, the man, the monster, will have your heart shattering for him.

Another author who put crack on every single line! This was dark and depraved! A war vet with a dark past and intentions. Turner is a stone cold killer but damn I loved him! I love Emerysn she’s such a catch and I’m so glad Em came into Turners life and was his saving grace his motivation to change, took a year but I loved every minute of it. So glad Turner got the help he needed. Loved the mental health rep in this dealing with PTSD from the war. Amazing read and it tugged at every heart string I had 🥺🥺🥺 and glad Em and Turner got the white picket fence dream! I ain’t going to lie Turner had me a little scared in the beginning. I was shook!

Annie has done it again! 🖤
This was a short read and loved it!
Shows you that when you find the right person, you are willing to get better. Sad tragedy that followed Turner and losing his family. Love how Em never backed down and even though she saw his not so good side, she tried to help him. So worth the read! 🖤🖤

2.5🌶

For a book this short it really did cover a lot of ground ! Loved it so much !
It’s one of those books where you’re rooting for the MFC and MMC to have a happily ever after.
MFC “Emersyn is driving to her boyfriend’s remote cabin in the woods for Christmas 🎄 to mend their broken relationship. She goes up the wrong drive and ends up getting stuck in the snow. Her cellphone has no reception, and decides to ask the owner of the “wrong drive cabin for assistance.
But then things go horribly wrong when she comes in contact with recluse cabin owner “Turner !

MMC “Turner is a retired Vet , who has severe PTSD, a recluse and is sheltering in his family’s cabin to hide himself from the world because of his dark and violent tendencies.
He hunts down Emersyn and keeps her in his cabin . They start to form some sort of connection between them. But Em feels torn between running for her life or trying to help a very damaged and dangerous Turner!

Turner’s past family loss/ trauma is just heartbreaking 😢 I can definitely relate to the loss of both parents in a short period of time, because I have personally experienced it too, 🥺unfortunately. 💔

There’s so many more layers to this book but I don’t want to spoil it. But I do have to mention Turner’s service dog “Gunner 🐕‍🦺who really was a godsend with helping him with his PTSD !! And I”m so happy this author included a service animal in this heartbreaking but hopeful story.❤️

Overall I loved everything about this book !! And I would highly recommend it!!

Thank you Annie Wild for the opportunity to arc read this book! 🫶🏻❤️

This book, despite only being a little over 200p, was SO captivating & well written in my opinion. It’s one of the more interesting books I’ve read this year, and as a true crime girly - I ate this up!🖤

“𝘼𝙣 𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙩 𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙝𝙞𝙢? […] 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙛 𝙄 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙮? 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙢𝙚?

Turner is a serial unaliver but he might be the hottest one to date..🤭I definitely understand what Emersyn saw in him, and the Stockholm Syndrome vibes were perfect for this >>> And the vulnerability of mental health, especially with marine ex-forces/veterans is a subject I don’t feel like is written about enough, and this was very well portrayed.

“ 𝗜’𝘃 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗲’𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆. 𝗜 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻’ 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.

There were definitely a few times I was unsure wether he’d end up digging her grave as well or not, and that was the perfect set up🙂‍↕

And Gunner, sweet sweet Gunner. I’m always weak for animals in books and he was no exception. In the beginning of the book I saw him as equally terrifying & psycho as his owner - but with time I got to know him and Turner’s story together which just made it all the more heartfelt❤️‍

I loved the ending of the book, I think I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. This is a dark/suspenseful holiday romance read and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who sees this. ❣️

I’ve truly never read a book especially a dark romance book that has veteran’s mental health, the author describes but also shows from different perspectives of what PTSD looks like or overall veterans minds. I absolutely appreciate the veterans hotline & the suicide hotline in the beginning of the book. I will be posting them here in case anyone needs it 🤍

USA SUICIDE HOTLINE: 988
VETERANS SUICIDE HOTLINE: 988, then Press 1

I knew from the beginning this was going to be dark but I wasn’t expecting our girl to get shot at literally at chapter 2 😭

This is a quick dark Christmas romance read with our MMC Turner who is a veteran that has PTSD & our FMC Emersyn who’s a girl from Oklahoma, she drove 10+ hours to Colorado to spend time with her boyfriend Adam to work on their relationship.. THE WEEK OF CHRISTMAS & idk what it is about every book that has the horrible bf Adam but I legit hate them all 🤣. Adam is a piece of shit & bc of him (also bc Em took the wrong turn 👀), Em was able to meet Turner and his service dog Gunner.

I absolutely loved everything about this book & it’s been had to my list of must read Christmas book every year 🫶🏼🎄

This book was wild! In the beginning I was wondering how this is labeled as a romance considering the guy is trying to take her life. The more I read the more the puzzle pieces were falling into place. Turner is hostile and scarred. This dude has been through hell and the fact that he didn’t unalive Em is shocking. Em is on her way to her boyfriend’s families cabin and a snow storm hits. She is told on the way there that her boyfriend is wanting to end things so she is already upset about that. She pulls into what she thinks is the right place and it’s most definitely not. Turner has lived in the middle of nowhere for over a decade and really doesn’t deal with people. When Em shows up on his property he loses it. Seeing them interact and see Turner slowly realize he needs help and how he opens up to Em was so beautiful. Turner is dangerously delicious and I ate this whole entire book up. If you want a dark romance with an ex marine MMC who has PTSD and suffers from deadly blackouts then definitely pick this one up. It’s a fantastic winter read!

Bye. (:

Annie Wild’s “The Wrong Drive is described as a suspenseful holiday novella, and it is. But even more so, it tells a meaningful story of a man struggling with PTSD from being in the military. Living in isolation in a cabin, Turner doesn’t have to be fearful of harming anyone. But he is very protective of his property; once someone enters, that becomes a problem.

When Emerysn gets lost one snowy evening in the vicinity of Turner’s property, she becomes a problem. “The Wrong Drive is only 190 pages long, but Author Annie Wild builds up those panicky feelings when you don’t know what will happen next. Turner is supposed to be a loose cannon. He intends to unalive Emerysn. However, Turner’s story is told in a way that makes readers feel compassion and understanding. There are some serious themes, su!c!∂e being one of them. Please read the content warnings.

SOOOOO addicting!! .....If i told you I couldn't put it down, would you believe me? ? ?

This was a very intriguing suspenseful Christmas dark romance, where you follow the journey of the male main character (Turner) as he battles and struggles with PTSD. The female main character (Emersyn) has a few struggles of her own and is very strong mentally...until she isn't!!

TRIGGER WARNINGS:
>Morally gray characters: the male lead is often described as brooding and potentially dangerous, with a complex past.

>Themes of obsession and control:Some aspects of the plot may explore themes of possessiveness and a desire to control the other character

>Due to it's dark nature, the book includes trigger warnings for themes like captivity, violence, and potential emotional manipulation.

>Intense and troubles relationship: The story involves a power dynamic between the main characters, with one being trapped and potentials at the mercy of the other

>SUICIDAL IDEATION =(

This book absolutely destroyed me. Ugly freaking tears and so many ups and downs. I’m pretty sure I questioned my own morality at points as well.

This is by far my favorite book I’ve read by Annie! It really tapped into some deep traumas and horrors that many of our military men and women face. The struggle of needing help but not thinking it’s possible or even knowing where to begin. The pain of losing yourself and everyone around you.

While yes Turner holds Em captive initially in the midst of a blizzard season and some sense of Stockholm syndrome begins to occur, on a deeper level you begin to feel so much for both of them in what they are going through and what they are feeling.

This is one of my favorite reads this year!

I found myself going back and forth between sympathizing and disliking with MMC in the beginning. I was questioning just how redeemable his character would be. I loved how in those moments of question, the author would give you just enough to sway you. This book will definitely have you asking “what the hell is he going to do?! I enjoyed everything about this story. What a great, entertaining and short read!

This book was a ride! Super unhinged but I ate it up. I couldn’t put this one down and my only complaint was I wish it was longer. It was short but so much happened! I haven’t read anything like this and it kept my interest the entire time.
Em and Turner are so different but at the same time made for each other. Turner’s story is super emotional and tragic and I really felt for him.
I absolutely loved the ending.

Going into this book, I did not read the blurb or what category it fell under. But I did still enjoy it. I do wish that it was longer as I feel like it could have gone in more depth in some areas. Even though I haven’t really read dark romance, that part didn’t turn me off the book at all. I just wish it was longer. I do love the growth that Turner went through and he faced his demons. I dislike the ending as well. Will most likely look into more books by this author
