"The #1 reason for failure in sales is an empty pipeline. And the #1 reason your pipeline is empty is that you avoid cold calling. In this book, Armand & Nick inspire you to get past your mental hangups, pick up the phone, and start cold calling. Read it now. Your bank account will thank you!" - JEB BLOUNT, bestselling author of Fanatical Prospecting
Cold calling is painful and uncomfortable for every single salesperson on Earth.
The average seller makes a couple dials, hits 6 voicemails, and gives up the moment a prospect hits them with a nasty objection.
But every time you decide to pick up the phone in spite of the suck, you separate yourself from the folks who quit. That's when you get ahead on the leaderboard.
Cold calling sucks. And that's why it works.

Armand and Nick promise that Cold Calling Sucks (And That's Why It Works) will be the most actionable sales book out there, and it makes a solid case. I have to confess, I haven't read that many sales books, but this one definitely stands out.
It’s a super easy read packed with practical steps to up your cold calling game. What really sets it apart are the real-life examples, helpful resources, and even recordings you can access via QR codes. I thought this was a pretty unique touch that adds a lot of value.
I also love how Armand and Nick are total sales pros. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that prompted me to buy the audio version of it while I was still reading the print copy.
Overall, I would recommend Cold Calling Sucks (And That's Why It Works) for anyone who is doing direct sales, or leading a team of sales people.
it's a good book, with good content, but it's like written more for the sales agents who sale a product more than a service. you can take the frame of the work and some advice even if you sale a service, but you have to personalized it more. i liked mostly the final chapters, where it get to basic - action counts more than words, frame or pitching.
Good stuff! Very interesting I literally finished it in one sitting and it felt like it was 50 pages long even the stuff that was completely irrelevant was so interesting to read about, very cool.
If you prospect for leads/sales…you NEED this book!
If your bank balance depends on whether you sell (or not) - if that number is smaller than you’d like…get this book NOW.
I have been an SDR/Appointment Setter and Cold Caller for multiple industries. I was Sandler trained. I teach sales myself.
This is the BEST book on cold calling (and it will actually help you in other prospecting areas, too!) I have ever read. It is so rare for me to see something I didn’t already know and practice in a book like this.
Data gathered from millions of sales calls underpins the tactics in this book. You can confidently adapt the script formulas to your niche, knowing that it will work. Very, very much worth your time to do so.
Yes, cold calling sucks. Maybe the way YOU cold call sucks. Get this book so you suck less and maybe even get d@mned good at it, filling your pipeline and your bank account.
Nice book. The authors go straight to the point cutting all the examples that usually make this kind of books boring and time consuming. The authors provide datas and actionable tips in order to get more meetings. Furthermore the book has a reading guide with videos and examples which can help understand the right TOV to be used during calls and I find this really helpful to improve our cold call game plus How to sound more confident to prospects in order to gain trust and make them say “this person knows what he’s talking about. I give 4 stars just because I knew some of the things they wrote already.
An abandoned book. I picked this up because I do need to make cold contacts in order to freelance as a voiceover professional and writer. I thought there might be some tips for me.
*spoiler alert*
However, once the "secret" was revealed to be lying, I tapped out! The author calls a big company and lies about working with people there. "Maybe you've heard my name?" No, the person hasn't, but they're intrigued enough to continue the call and/or book a meeting.
If I had to use lies to get my foot in a door, I'd find another way to make a living. Two stars for the layout.
I’ve read a ton of books for self help, business, sales claiming to have the secrets to sales or money-but it was always the most basic vague or common sense stuff. This is actually the most solid book that gives specific instructions that are unique too-you wouldn’t think of the things in the book if you hadn’t read it. I really like the thought put into this book. Great job! Straight to the point too.
"Cold Calling Sucks... and That's Why It Works" is such a great read. Armand and Nick pack it with with super practical tips that you can start using right away. They keep it real about the challenges of cold calling but break it down in a way that makes it feel way less intimidating. Whether you’re new to it or just need a refresher, this book gives you the tools to actually make it work. Highly recommend!
I'm using these sales scripts this week before too many people read this book. For my fellow new Founders & CEO's - you must read this book. For your sake or hiring a VP of Sales. I also read and listened to the Audible version to hear their scripts live. It's short read, highly actionable, and scripts you can steal and adapt to your own workflow right away.
I went from running a warehouse to selling insurance. I had so much training on the products we sold but nothing on calling prospective clients. This book gave me the foundation on how to make calls and land meetings. Excellent book!
Extremely easy to read. One of the few Sales book I’ve made it to the end on. Definitely things I can take and incorporate into my own skillset. Not everything but that should never be the case! 3 out of 5 stars is a compliment.
Felt weird putting a book I read for work on my GR but alas - still a book I read! Super actionable, backed up by data. I’m running a series of trainings for my team and this was a great framework to base some of my trainings off of. Long time fan of 30MPC.
Best sales book so far! No one likes cold calling and this books goes in depth on why it matters, how to overcome objections, create your calendar, not jeopardise the quality and book the meetings!!
Really crucial if you want to crush your sales role! Highly recommend to anyone in sales
Simple, organized, and tasked. The context and descriptions may not match your industry but the methods and practice are for anyone. This will be taught and implemented with everyone on my team and passed around to anyone that wants to read. Can you say required reading anyone?
Personally, the best sales book I've read since it's 100% tactical and you can put things into action right away. No BS fluff or big strategy - just things that you can immediately do and improve. Love it.
Phenomenal practical advice to help folks become better on the phone. Think it actually has a great theory of outbounding lingering in the background too. Really enjoyed this!
I have selected this book as Stevo's Business Book of the Week for the week of 8/26, as it stands heads above other recently published books on this topic.
