English Vocabulary in Use is a vocabulary book for upper-intermediate and advanced learners of English, primarily designed as a self-study reference and practice book, but can also be used for classroom work.

Adjunct Professor of Applied Linguistics at the Pennsylvania
State University and at the University of Limerick, Ireland.
He is the author of many titles of interest to teachers, including
Spoken Language and Applied Linguistics. Well known as an
expert on the teaching and learning of vocabulary, he is a co-author of the basic and upper-intermediate levels of Vocabulary in Use, and is also Academic Consultant to the Cambridge International Dictionary of Phrasal Verbs and the Cambridge International Dictionary of Idioms. He is co-author of the 2 latest successful corpus-informed publications by Cambridge University Press: Touchstone and Cambridge Grammar of English.

With its clear Cambridge-style structure, this is one of the best ESL vocabulary books available. It's nice to have on the shelf for refreshing particular topics in mind from time to time. But artificial, no-context vocabulary collections don't stay there long enough, no matter how beautiful they may look in the book. One better learns "live" vocabulary directly from fiction books, audio, video, TV, WWW, life... e.g., change your laptop/smartphone interface from your native language to English, and soon you'll have rich computer-related vocabulary installed directly into your brain. Easy and efficacious, ain't it?

این کتاب در افزایش دایره لغات و سازماندهی کلمات توی زیرموضوعات مختلف کمکتون میکن�. توصیه میکن� بر اساس زیرموضوع موردبحثش به همراه کتاب collocations in use استفاده بشه تا ماکزیمم تاثیر رو داشته باشه.

Very difficult, challenging exercises for an advanced student.

It is a good book to talk about how to memorize vocabulary. Before reading it, I usually recite native meaning by repeating word many times. However, the right way to study a new expression is feeling thier sense in the context.
