Sometimes you watch a movie thinking Matt Damon is in it, but it turns out to be Jesse Plemons. This was a similar experience. The book was okay, but I expected horror and I got horror’s lost-long cousin.

If you pick this up, I suggest you adjust your expectations. This is an ominous book that seems to hint you’re going to read something shocking eventually, but it’s not quite like that. This isn’t horror.

If you like horror movies, you may know about how some movies like Poltergeist are well know

My thoughts posted over at Shine & Shadow, and reposted here because I am lazy AF right now:

- What did you think about the experimental format of the novel? Did it work for you?

I've read and liked experimental formats before. I five-starred House of Leaves, for example. I was not a fan of it this time. In particular, when the 4 minute, nothing-is-happening-on-screen and we are in the minds of the audience watching the film, I was increasingly annoyed as the minutes ticked by. I think the "pause

Horror novel about a 1993 horror movie that never was released but gained cult status online at the horror websites. The book tells the story of the making of the film back then, including pages from the script, and also tells about the reboot of the film being made today. The narrator is the only living member of the cast, who takes part in both versions of the film.

This is a very slow burn horror story that’s more unsettling and weird than outright horrifying. However, it had some very distur

I enjoyed the format of this novel, but didn't really feel anything for the characters.
It was well-written and definitely unnerving in places.

I thought I was a fan of Paul Tremblay but the last 2 books I didn't like at all (this one and The Pall Bearer's Club).
In my opinion, he is too long-winded and the books have just kinda bragged and were so hard to get into and read.
I get annoyed (frustrated) waiting so long for something to happen and then its just that not great or nothing happens. And it is sad for me because this book sounded cool and I really wanted to like it.
There was a general sense of mystery/creepy-ness, weirdness nat

Horror Movie is an obsessive, psychologically chilling, and suspenseful feat of storytelling genius that builds inexorably to an unforgettable, mind-bending conclusion.

WOW! That sentence was the last in the publisher’s blurb about the book and it represents how I feel perfectly. When I first saw this book either oh Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ as a giveaway or on Netgalley, I wanted so bad to read it. It was all I could thi

Interesting enough, the audiobook version definitely brought this up
The audiobook has really cool audio effects- loved that aspect and highly recommend listening to this one
 Breaks the 4th wall
 Shoutout Worcester Mass haha
Doesn’t feel real- like why he wanted to keep going past his pinky getting cut off. And he was the one to push keep going
Pretty much all of the driving plot is in the past so there’s no real momentum or tension. There’s no holding of the breath like you’d
