I thoroughly enjoyed this very short prequel to Lost Lake. I liked meeting Kate and learning a bit about her, and loved her conversation with elderly Mr. Donbeet. I thought the way the author described Kate as viewing the world as a child was charming mad magical. I am highly anticipating reading Lost Lake.

I didn't realize this was a short story & I actually do not enjoy short stories because if they are 1) either not good, or 2) if they are, then they leave me wanting for more (which I guess technically, is the definition of a good short story read). This story is a little preface to Lost Lake, it's only about a chapter long. You don't need to read it before reading Lost Lake, but it's free on Amazon, so why wouldn't you? And it does set up the story for Kate in a very different way then if you only read Lost Lake. So I say go download it for free on Amazon and read it, then go read Lost Lake
