I don't know why, but I reallllly liked this book. There was something sweet about it. And even though I could tell early on what was going to happen, it didn't diminish the enjoyment I got out of reading it. There are those who may say it is fluffy, but I think there are good lessons to be learned through the novel, and the uniqueness of the characters more than makes up for the predictability. I would love a chapter or two of follow up on Maddie though.

I love anything by Sarah Addison Allen. I've read all her books so far and not one of them has been disappointing. This book was just such a sweet fun read and it only took a few hours to read.

This book had two protagonists: a teenaged girl and a 30-something woman. I liked both characters, and really all the other characters (except for the ones you're not supposed to like). :-)
I love all of Sarah Allen's work, but this isn't my favorite. It does have Sarah's signature elements -- magic, southern towns, food. (There are even a couple of recipes in the back of the book!) I think I just didn't identify with the two main characters in this book as much as I did in her other books. This ...more
