I requested this book at the library when a friend informed me it had been released. I didn't read anything about the story beforehand...I just knew it was a new book by the author of _Garden Spells_. I'm glad now that I didn't read any information or reviews, because it made the whole story all the more fresh.

This sophomore novel is as charming as the first. In the beginning, the food metaphors were annoying, but they grew on me through the story. Yes, it's magical and predictable, but its' sweetness (pun intended) mixed with the serious subject matter and surprising ending make it my latest favorite. I will buy the next novel by this author. ...more

I loved this book! I have a feeling the characters are going to stay with me for a long time. A few words that come to mind are: delightful, whimsical, mesmerizing, magical and charming. It felt like a modern day fairytale- love, heartache, friendship, some sadness mixed in, magic and all...
