Not enough was happeninnnng. Like the literal inciting incident of the story only comes at the end of part one?? About 20% of the way through the book according to my kindle? What was with that? When I heard 'political fantasy,' I expected something with a lot of suspense that was focused on the epic highs and lows of government and bureaucracy (my condolences if you get the reference), not...whatever this was.
I wasn't too fond of the characters, either. Touraine was not very competent ...more

yeah this was one of the most well thought out political fantasy novels i’ve ever read. We’re talking metaphors galore, reparations, beautiful writing, lesbians aplenty, and accountability systems that made my heart sing. This book means the world to me and I’m going to be thinking about it for a long time.
