I first came across Maus in university, when I took a course on the history of the Holocaust. Later in Korea I reread the first part - I can’t recall why I didn’t reread the second. So when I saw it on the shelf at the library, I thought it was time to reread the whole thing. I had been meaning to read this set (vol. I and II) for a long time and am so glad that I finally did. I wasn't sure how I would like the comic book format but after a few chapters, I felt that it actually enhanced the story, rather than detract from it. This is a true story of the Holocaust, as told by the author's father. Ironically, we learn that the the author is also a survivor...of his Holocaust survivor parents.
