What Members Thought
This book is a mess. There are some lovely sentences, and a sprinkling of interesting insights about race, family, motherhood, abuse, and feminism - and, yes, some fairy tale tropes - but as a novel it did not work for me at all. The book is divided into three parts and each one seems like a different draft of the same book. I got the feeling Oyeyemi wasn't sure which direction to go in, so she just stuck all the parts together and called it a day. And, the ending. Where was the ending?
