I have mixed feelings about this book. I applaud the authors for their vast and extensive research, spanning countries, decades, and a myriad of oral histories from survivors. However, I found the overall organization and thesis not only disjointed, but suspect. I did not buy their conclusions about General Homma's "innocence/ignorance;" nor did I find their argument that he was "railroaded" by an aggressive/unfair prosecution to be founded at all, based upon their treatment of the subject.
