This book keeps coming back to me at odd times to make me think. It's quite different to Helen Garner's other stories. I wonder how she was able to write it. I wonder what's happened to Joe's family now. I know what the girl is doing now and I feel uneasy about that. It's a disturbing account.
We will be discussing this in August on our ABC Radio bookclub. ...more
