I was really excited about this book when I first heard about it because I've read one of the books in this author's other series and loved it, so I was looking forward to reading more from her! This book was hauntingly beautiful! I knew it was going to be an absolute tear jerker before I even picked it up because the synopsis doesn't give too much away, but it gives you enough for you to possibly know what's going to happen in the plot! I have to say that I only glanced over the synopsis before I was really excited about this book when I first heard about it because I've read one of the books in this author's other series and loved it, so I was looking forward to reading more from her! This book was hauntingly beautiful! I knew it was going to be an absolute tear jerker before I even picked it up because the synopsis doesn't give too much away, but it gives you enough for you to possibly know what's going to happen in the plot! I have to say that I only glanced over the synopsis before I started reading, so I wasn't too sure what to expect when I started reading! What I got though was amazing and so emotional! The plot of this book was just so beautiful, but it went quite dark at points, and then it gradually started becoming beautiful again! I did expect there to be tears while I read this book, but I have to be honest and say that I was able to hold most of my tears in! I have no idea how I did it because there were some scenes that were so brutal and emotional! Those scenes completely made the plot though! The characters were amazing! Danielle was the main female character and my heart just completely broke for her! I watched her go through some of the most loving and most beautiful moments of her life, and then I watched it all be taken away with a click of my fingers! I then watched her struggle to come to terms with what she had been through and in time she then she gradually started to learn how to move on and cope with what she had been through with the help of someone she least expected! Danielle was such a brilliant character and I connected with her all the way through this book as well! She was so brave and I could completely understand why she reacted the way she did at times! Tanner was the main male character and he had such a soft, gentle approach to his relationship with Danielle! The relationship had to go like that though or else Danielle would cower and run because of how fragile she was! I just adored Tanner and seeing his relationship with Danielle grow was the sweetest thing! I could also see that he would do anything to cause Danielle as little pain as he could and that he had some deep feelings for her! I wasn't expecting this book to be written from both Danielle and Tanner's point of views, but I'm really happy it was! It definitely helped me connect more with both characters and I loved getting to see their feelings for each other grow through both of their eyes! I can completely understand why this book is a standalone! Everything was resolved and it had a good, solid ending! The cover for this book is absolutely stunning! I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it and I think it represents the book beautifully! First off, I cried buckets of tear during and after reading this book. Secondly, I could easily relate to the story because I have a brother who's in the Navy and everytime he gets deployed, me and the rest of my family couldn't shake the feeling of being worried at all times. And lastly, I always love HEA endings so this book easily made it to my Top 10 Favorites this year.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I can honestly say that I LOVED every bit of this book. At least a full box of tissues is needed for this book! This was a beautiful love story and a wonderful lesson about living life to the fullest and not letting grief consume you. It's about not letting second chances slip away. This is the first book I've read by Rebecca Brooks... I enjoyed reading about Danielle struggle to move on after her loss.. She turned out to be alot stronger than she thought she was... She was so deeply in love with Nate and could not imagine moving on with out him.. Untill Tanner... But she has to fight to over come the feeling of cheating on Nate.. It's such an emotional read.. This is the story of Danielle Renton, a law school graduate living a very happy life with her high school sweetheart Nate, who is in the army. Everything is wonderful, until Nate gets deployed.
Then the story takes a dramatic turn.
This is a very moving story and will have you laughing & crying in equal measure.
I loved reading this, it was so easy to get into, Rebecca Brooke writes so well you are able to visualise everything and feel every emotion Danielle goes through.

Ok here it goes. I will be 100% honest right now. This book had me crying about 4-5 times. Reading this book had my heart breaking and meaning and over again. That is the his honest truth. This book is one of the most heartfelt books I have read in a really long time. Even though it hurts to read some parts of the book it is still so raw and powerfully full of emotion. The story is so enveloping. I will,say that this a must read by far.

If you don't cry, you aren't human. I'm trying to figure out how to write this without spoilers.
