I loved this book! A great conclusion to a great sieries. I couldnt be more pleased with the way things turned out. But in this last book, Myer has created whole new storylines that could be folowed. Kind of sucks that she put "THE END" at the end of this book. ...more

Hmm... What to say about this book... To say I was surprised would be an understatement. When I heard that she wrote a 750 page book, I was wondering what the heck it could have been about. The beginning of this book was rather boring, not really much happening, and what did happen was dumb. Pretty wedding, pretty island. ETC!!!!! but about a third of the way in, it got really good. I would never have guessed that the book would have been about this.... WOW. Now I wish she'd write another book!! ...more

OH MY GOD THIS BOOK HAHAHAHA.

Rereading Twilight in 2019 has been a journey. I'm 11 years older than I was when I first read the books. They don't hold up. However, I can *sort of* see why I liked these books as a kid, when I had no conception of what love and relationships really look like. But Breaking Dawn is a biiiig step down from the previous books -- and the bar was already so low!

OH MY GOD THIS BOOK HAHAHAHA.

Rereading Twilight in 2019 has been a journey. I'm 11 years older than I was when I first read the books. They don't hold up. However, I can *sort of* see why I liked these books as a kid, when I had no conception of what love and relationships really look like. But Breaking Dawn is a biiiig step down from the previous books -- and the bar was already so low!

The first issue with this book is that so much of it is about a pregnancy. News flash: Tweens and teens don't care about pregnancy. I'm a full adult now but I'm not into pregnancy enough to read a hundred pages about Bella's gray pallor and giant bruised stomach. *shudders* This is supposed to be a vampire romance! A horrifying supernatural pregnancy is not romantic!

The second issue is that Bella sucks as a vampire. Actually, she's awesome as a vampire, but a core part of Bella's character is that she's hopeless at everything and everyone has to save her and carry her places all the time like a football (this actually happens in the first book; look it up). When she can hold her own, when she and Edward are equal? Meh. It's cool for her, but it kind of deflates the story.

Third: The final confrontation with the Volturi - What even *happened* there?? This ending was so boring that the movie had to film a completely fabricated battle dream sequence to make it worth watching. The tension is definitely there, but it ends with a whimper, not a bang.

Also, like, what's the deal with Renesmee? I get that she's supposed to be a great kid, but it's kind of weird how everyone loves her and is willing to fight and die for her the second she touches their face. What's even weirder is that no one feels the need to interrogate that. We're reading this story through Bella's eyes, so she may not be a reliable narrator -- but I still think Stephenie should have explored this more.

God, this book is terrible. ...more
