I was twelve when I first read this, and like most everyone else loved it. I have (of course) seen the movie over the years. I've seen and loved the movie so many times, and actually thought I had already read the book. Even while I was reading, there were some parts I could swear I've read before, but I don't have it marked on goodreads, so I guess maybe not.

The book was quite interesting in the way he narrated it like he was actually abridging a book written by a man from the actual country of Florin, and the real and imaginary were so interwoven that it was kind of surreal. All the same scenes were there as in the movie, though some appear to have been modified slightly for the movie. But overall it was very close, as would be expected since Goldman a ...more
