What Members Thought
This is a hard book to rate. For young adult readers I would probably say 3.5 stars but from an adult point of view I would have to hover around a 2.5-3 stars.
Unlike other YA books which I thought appealed to adults as well as young adults in the writing style I felt like this one was definitely geared just towards teens. There were some parts that made me cringe and the story was somewhat simplistic. If you can get passed that and just go with the flow it wasn't a bad book.

I am not impressed. I was wondering why you could find this entire series at the library while all the other vampire books have really long waiting lists, but now I understand. It's really immature, even for a teen series, and the story doesn't even grab you. I vote no.

I luv Vampires but hate tilight and this book is great maybe even a little better tan the house of night series but cant wait to read the 2nd one.!!!☺♥☺♥!!!
well..this book is great and all the other VK books. I haven't Finish all the VK books. But I do love this book I did get addicted to it. But the thing is...it's almost the same like twilight. Alex (Edward Cullen) vampire and Raven (Bella Swan) human falls in love. Raven wants to be a vampire but alex doesn't want to he wants to save her from all the torture yadayadayada. Meets a lot of evil villains who wants her delicious blood. Yadayadayada
And the story goes on and on.

Good vampire series.
Even if the idea of a goth chick of all people getting the vampire was a little... cliche in some ways, it was still good.
After all, it's not the awkward new girl (Bella) but the goths who dedicate their lives to getting near a vampire!
Anyway, I really liked the story, it was fast paced with likable characters and Raven and Alexander's relationship worked. It was like Raven was the protector emotionally, and Alexander physically.
