I read this recently just because it is a classic and I picked it up at Goodwill for 69 cents. While somewhat disappointing, as I was hoping it would be as amazing as say Pride and Prejudice, it does have interesting plot twists. One particularly good scene is when Jane spends the night on the moors. Powerful stuff. Mr. Rochester was not at all attractive to me, so the romance didn't do it for me. It was fun to re-read this classic and be able to discuss it with my daughter after she read it (and loved it) for school. It's a timeless story of perseverance and the power of true faith as we follow the orphan Jane Eyre through the trials of her life. The mystery aspect of what the hell is going on in Thornfield Hall is a nice pull, but I think my favorite part is Jane's voice as a child---she was a little spitfire, but sweet and endearing, and I so wanted to give the poor thing a giant hug.
