Ok. Let me first start off as saying that for some this may contain enough spoilers that you do not want to read any further.
I have loved this series since the first time I read the back of the first book in the bookstore. ALL of the guys have their own vices and problems and as each book progressed and I learned more about the characters I became invested in them. I couldn't wait to get to Phury's book. As usual this book was wonderful! Simply wonderful.
I think what makes this series so appealing, and why I love it so much, is that even though each of the Brothers are proud, strong warriors, they鈥檙e also tremendously flawed. They鈥檙e fierce and dangerous, and yet they鈥檙e all so complex and complicated. They each have their own issues and problems and I love watching each and every one of them begin to move past their issues in each book. It鈥檚 beautiful to read and

They鈥檙e fierce and dangerous, and yet they鈥檙e all so complex and complicated. They each have their own issues and problems and I love watching each and every one of them begin to move past their issues in each book. It鈥檚 beautiful to read and this book was no different.
I really felt for Phury in this book. Once again, I had no clue the extent of the personal demons he battled within himself. He鈥檚 always been the most self-sacrificing of the Brotherhood, but I never knew just what drove him to do this and feel the way he did. He felt so bad about what had happened to Zsadist, and that coupled with the way his parents felt, and how they ended up, had such an effect on him.
Cormia was a very sweet, innocent person, who had no real outside experience in the world. With men, or with life in general. I liked watching her begin to see the world for real, and I like reading as she slowly fell for Phury and made him begin to care for more than himself in return. It was his feelings for her that drove him to really step up and I was so happy to see that.

I was ecstatic that Tohrment returned, although my heart still broke for John. He鈥檚 been through so much himself, but I really like the sexual tension between him and Xhex. I鈥檓 looking forward to seeing where that goes in later books.
Another thing I found I really liked was the relationship between Blay and Qhuinn. While I admit, that I wasn鈥檛 surprised that Blay was in love with Qhuinn after seeing how he looked at him once when they were at the club and seeing how he acted, I will say I was shocked that Qhuinn cared for Blay as deeply as he did. Even though he didn鈥檛 return Blay鈥檚 feelings to the same extent he did, he really cared about him, perhaps even loved him, and all he wanted was what was best for him. It was very sweet.

This is easily shaping up to be one of my ALL TIME FAVE series's and I CANNOT wait to read the rest of the books!

Ward鈥檚 writing and completely envious of her brilliant talent. Her works that I have read to date have never failed to leave me in awe of her writing capabilities and the world she creates for her beautifully complex characters.

So it pains me to give Lover Enshrined only four out of five stars, and even more so to have something less than spectacular to say about it.
The main focus of the story was Phury and Cormia鈥檚 bu I feel I have to start this review off by saying that I am a huge fan of J.R. Ward鈥檚 writing and completely envious of her brilliant talent. Her works that I have read to date have never failed to leave me in awe of her writing capabilities and the world she creates for her beautifully complex characters.

So it pains me to give Lover Enshrined only four out of five stars, and even more so to have something less than spectacular to say about it.
The main focus of the story was Phury and Cormia鈥檚 burgeoning relationship, and the highs and lows of it as the story progresses. I felt that although the dynamics of their relationship and the hardships they faced were well presented and thoroughly explored, the rest of the story and the ongoing numerous subplots drew away from it all and left it in the shadows rather than the forefront as it should have been.
It seems that in this book there were a few too many different perspectives and too much was going on in between the epic love story that was Phury鈥檚 and Cormia鈥檚. I found this unfortunate, as I ended up being more vested in the outcomes and developments to the subplots rather than the ending Ward had in store for the two main characters.
Instead of wondering if Phury and Cormia鈥檚 love would prevail, I was biting my nails over Qhuinn鈥檚 predicament regarding Lash, Qhuinn鈥檚 rejection of Blay and the effects it would have on their friendship, and Rehv鈥檚 situation with the symphath princess.
I am well aware that good subplot keeps the story going and allows for more scenarios in the book, but when it becomes so imbedded that the reader is starting to think, 鈥淐ormia Who? Phury what?鈥� you have to ask yourself if the story relates more to what the blurb on the back of the book said, or if it鈥檚 leading you in an entirely different direction.

Highlights of the book would include the introduction of Lassiter, the fallen angel, and the intrigue surrounding his relationship with the brothers and Rehvenge, oh, and also I really want to know what the deal is with his having to be a part of Tohrment鈥� recovery.
I also liked that while Qhuinn was in a bad way after he knifed Lash and things were all doom and gloom, Wrath and John managed to pull something out of their asses and save his hide. And what made it even more appealing was it wasn鈥檛 your usual HEA, but something that came with a lot of strings and was maybe the lesser of two evils. On one hand he faced prison followed by a lifetime of slavery to the man who鈥檚 son he supposedly killed, and on the other he was forever indebted to John Matthew and would act out the role of bodyguard until either he or John Matthew was no longer breathing, whichever came first.
So while he got off on the charges against him, it wasn鈥檛 all happy joy-joy, let鈥檚 go celebrate and have a good laugh about it. In a way, it was Qhuinn鈥檚 induction into the adult world and a whole lot of responsibility was heaped onto his shoulders.

On an unrelated note, I found it hilarious that no sooner had Wrath declared the Brotherhood mansion 鈥渘ot a hotel鈥�, Qhuinn moves in, and then not two days later Blay moves in as well. Not a hotel, huh? Could have fooled me. Oh, and then hello, Lassiter comes along as a two for one deal with Tohr. Guess Wrath might be rethinking that statement!

I enjoyed the resolution between Phury and Zsadist, and my heart warmed at the end of the book when Zsadist started singing. For a minute there, I was truly worried Zsadit had stopped singing for good!

If not for the subplots and a whole cast of crazy, complicated, almost-drive-you-nuts characters, I would have given this book a lower rating. But because Ward has such flawless, addictive writing and is a master at weaving an incomparably monumental series, I decided to give it four stars, maybe even four and a half. It definitely would have been an easy five if more emphasis was given to Phury and Cormia鈥檚 love story, but hey, we can鈥檛 have everything. ...more

This was my least favorite of the series. It was very slow starting. I do not know if there was just too much information included or what was going on but too many times I put it down and read other things in between. I hope the next one gets better. I think I am going to skip the insider guide for now and go straight to Lover Avenged.

Oh lord help us all! This could have had a smoother plot yet it did not. I do admit that I liked it just fine though. If you're starting out on this series I suggest you take a week break from it so you don't get burned out so quickly on it. Like with everything else in life moderation is a great thing!
