Oh my freaking gosh! I waited so long for this book AND I reread Ashes (which I loved) just to get all of the characters straight before I tackled Shadows; however I find myself sort of dumbstruck and in shock. My creep factor hit an all time high with this book. I found myself pushing down the bile page after page as I struggled to digest the hideous evil and intense gore that seemed to never end. I thought I had a stomach of steel, but apparently not after reading Shadows.

It's been almost a year since I read the first book, and I had a very difficult time starting this sequel. Too many names, too much prior knowledge the author assumed I had at the tip of my tongue. I swear flash cards or an index of characters would have helped this book. Once I gave up on trying to figure out who was who and what was what, the action and pacing quickly swept me up into the events of the book. And boy, were they bloody.
