When Omorts finds out that his brother is going to hand to Rydstorm the sword that will kill him, he sends Sabine to shape her prophesy but Sabine has her own motives. She wants to take over the kingdom and free herself of her brothers' hold. Before he could start on the chase after his lifes mission, he gets captured by Sabine as a prisoner in his own kingdom cell forcing him to rely fully on his unreliable brother Cade to retrieve the sword that to by handing in his mate as the price. If Sabine though this task would be easy, she was wrong.

She tries to tempt and torture Rydstorm into submission but he too strong willed. Then another problem is that the child will not be a true heir if they are not married.. Rydstorm is confused as to why fate has delivered him his mate in Sabine, an evil socceri, the one he will seek his revenge on for torturing him; as soon as he escapes. Sabine thinks she eventually succeeded but Rydstorm had tricked her into believing that she's his Queen with his vow of revenge in demonish. Rydstorm gets his wish when he is helped to escape by Lothaire. He takes Sabine as a prisoner and begins their journey to the portal. He enacts revenge by repaying her. On their journey, they began to warm up to each other and Rydstorm believes that Sabine will make a strong queen but there are other obstacles....

This book has two very strong personalities as the main character. I really loved Sabine; she's wicked, sassy and she looks out for herself. Both characters were developed very well throughout the book especially Sabine. I found it realistic and believable that she didn't have a drastic change in her character. And Rydstorm the level headed demon with a wild side. Both of them glue well with each other. For some reason I couldn't get into the story emotionally though I was able to appreciate the book. Read this book for lots of fun, humor, sarcasm, and two strong main characters. ...more

Rydstrom is a dethroned King of the Fire Demons, he and his brother who cost him the kingdom have been trying to find a way to defeat Omort the Deathless for 700 years. With the Sword that can finally kill Omort in the brothers sight they set off to fetch it, but before they can even embark, a woman appears in front of Rydstrom on a deserted road and seduces him to follow her.
