My experience with War and Peace in the beginning it was like a blind date, at first didn’t know what to expect, but then once I started reading couple of chapters I become more and more attached to the storyline and characters. By the time I reached halfway through the book, I was certain that this is the one for me.

3.75 stars? I really loved parts of this, and even found myself enjoying some of the descriptions of war, which is odd for me. But Tolstoy's sections where he philosophised and questioned historians and such were just not for me, so the last 30 or so pages were a real slog and kind of ruined the reading experience a bit.
