I fear I am getting bored with this series. Wash, rinse, repeat - same old same old here for Sam and Nick... yeah, yeah, they love each other and have the seemingly perfect life but, jeez, it gets a bit repetitive after a while. I know the next book has some major turning point or big reveal in it - I am sure I will see a spoiler if I don't read it soon but I am not forking out $9 for a book in a series that isn't really doing anything for me ... the same thing has happened me with another long

Sam and Nick are at a dinner party at a friend's house when breaking news interrupts their night out. President David Nelson had an affair with his campaign staffer Tara Weber. Even worse, Tara is now claiming that her newborn child was fathered by the President. Both Nick and Sam are hoping it isn't true. Nick is the current Vice President, and he really doesn't want to move up if the President resigns or is forced out of office. To make matters worse, a few days later Sam is given a homicide c

This was a fantastic book to listen to with half my brain tied behind my back. In other words, I was stuck in softball games and soccer matches and only listening with a half focus and I got the plot with no problem at all. Since at least a third was redundant repetition of the past story lines and sex scenes it was a great book to listen to with a split focus. Eva Kaminsky as narrator made this so-so tale come to life. No presidency ever, except maybe in a third world country, has survived what

Coming in December 2019 is Book #15 in Marie Force's "Fatal Series." And this series is still going strong -- never ceasing to capture my attention and heart. "Fatal Accusation" is a powerful story with an edge-of-your-seat crime for Sam and her team to solve, as well as moving continuing storylines forward. All your favorites are back with some great laughs, a few of those darn sad tears still hanging around, and as always, a package full of surprises that will delight readers. It's for sure yo

When the news breaks that President Nelson has engaged in an extramarital affair with a political advisor and fathered a child with her, all of Washington is flabbergasted, including Vice President Nick Cappuano and his wife, Lieutenant Sam Holland. Then, the woman, Tara Weber, is found strangled in her apartment. Did the president have her killed, or is the culprit one of the other men in her life?
Series note: This is book #15 in the series. Due to ongoing character devel ...more

Got to say, politics is such a dirty game. I really wish we have someone like Nick in the Oval Office though, that'd be really cool. Even though we know that he doesn't really want the top job.
Sam is still going through the stages of grief following her father's death and I liked that she's portrayed to be a bit off her game during the investigation of the death of a woman who've had an affair with the President during his campaign.

Even with some minor flaws, this continues to be an entertaining and satisfying series. Having a story based around a couple who love each other, with a strong support group of family and friends, provides a calming foundation to the chaos swirling around all the characters. Some of my beefs with this book, as always, center around Sam: can she please stop using the "rusty steak knife" line, slamming receptionists (not funny), and (at times) acting like a bitch instead of a badass. Even with tha

I'm starting to feel that Nick should just go ahead and become the President! But I guess Sam really would have to stop pounding the pavement if that was to happen. ...more

Sam came across as more of a jerk than usual, making this one more difficult to get through. The investigation was lacking and the motive for the murder was laughable. However, the bonus epilogue and the secondary characters always make this series worth the trip.
