One minor plot quibble aside, this was a really satisfying middle book to this trilogy. Nicely built off the first one, good twists (that were not so shocking as to make me think they were unfounded), and great setup for the third, which I already understand has folks really split on the course it takes. I remain intrigued enough that this series might be read right after the new year.

It took me a little while to pick this up, (because I remembered the last one as a bit harsh for me) however, it grabbed me right away and only took me a couple days to read. This seemed to be more of a mystery than the first, though I might have been more comfortable with the world and able to focus more on the story.

Kudos to Veronica Roth for writing the second book in a trilogy series where STUFF HAPPENS. Unfortunately, a little too much happened -- I had a hard time keeping track of it all during the first 2/3 of the book, and the situation was not helped by there being so many secondary and tertiary characters who weren't around long enough for me to care about. still liking the series, though I wasn't as engaged as with the first book. more four!! the flaws are coming through more, so I am periodically quite annoyed.
