This is not the story line that I would naturally gravitate to. A middle aged couple move to homestead in Alaska around 1920 trying to flee their grief over their inability to conceive, except for one still born child. I absolutely loved this book. It was so beautiful. The story is based on a Russian fairytale about an old couple who build a child out of snow and she comes to life. It was a truly magical book. It was set in Alaska and it was as though you could feel the snow on your face and the cold in your bones as you read the book.
