This was an amazing read.

It's sadistic, twisted, horrifying, disturbing...and I just could not put it down, even though my stomach was all tied up in knots through the entire thing, and I actually felt physically nauseous several times. That has never happened to me before. I usually have a very strong stomach when it comes to violence and torture (in literature), and have actually read much more brutal, graphic content than this in other stories. I cannot rate this because I couldn't get far enough into it. Heartbreaking and horrific, this is not for the faint-hearted or anyone else, hardly. I can't take more than one of these tags in any one work--underage, rape, medical torture, death camp, Nazis...there are many more uncomfortably wretched tags that this story earns. Hopelessness, monstrousness that nevertheless seemed authentic. I cannot face the realities of Nazi prison camps, and cannot finish this because it made me weepy and sick ...more

I read this story like six months ago, but even though I never added it to my shelves, I never forgot about it. A powerful, disturbing, emotional story. It's a survival story, it's about a dark and twisted love, but love nonetheless. Recommended only to those willing to step out of their comfort zone. ...more
