Carolyn I just recently read Darkborn, and the sequel Lightborn, and it's a great series - I love the unique magic systems and cultures of the two groups! I think the next book is due out in 2012.

If you enjoyed the Liveship series by Robin Hobb, you will love The Dragon Keeper - it's a continuation of the story and very good. The sequel to that is already out (Dragon Haven), and I'm looking forward to the end of the trilogy - hopefully coming soon!

I voted for The Stepsister Scheme, however, because a good friend of mine loves the series and keeps recommending them to me. Also, as a light, funny read, sounds like it would be good summer fare.

Just my $0.02 = )

Ken I went for American Gods. Its been on my radar for....well 10 years now. Since there is talk of an HBO series....and since I nominated it...Whew!!!

I voted for Of Blood and Honey, because I've heard lots of good things about it, so this would be a great reason to finally read it. I read American Gods way back and remember liking it, but not as much as some of Gaiman's other works.

Ditto. Never heard of it, but the blurb sounded interesting.

Kevin Xu I think American Gods is going to win.

Kevin Xu I think Dragon Keeper might not be a great starting point for those who have never read Hobb.

As it does in every group on GR.

Kevin actually makes a good point. I wasn't paying attention during the nominations. I don't think that Hobb book is the best place to start. People should be aware that, even though this is part 1 of a trilogy, that entire trilogy is part of a larger series including the Farseer books, the Liveship books and the Fool books. At the very least, you should probably have read the Liveship books, and ideally all three previous trilogies to get the full picture.

I wish I'd known that during nominations. Unfortunately, Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ just shows it as 1st of a trilogy and doesn't indicate in any way that it's part of a larger run. Argh!

Edit: spelling oopsie

Maybe some people will change their votes so it drops out of the top two. I'd rather not get stuck with a book that people who haven't read the rest of the series can't discuss.

Candiss Just a reminder: First-round voting ends at 11:59pm PST tonight, so if you haven't voted - or if you wish to change your vote to help a second favorite inch up into the top two - you've only got a few hours left. Second-round polls go up tomorrow.
