“If I had my eternal salvation placed in front of me on this table, and if I only had to stretch out my hand to take it, I would not put out my hand so long as I had not received the order to do so. At least that is what I like to think. And if instead of my own it were the eternal salvation of all human beings, past, present and to come, I know I ought to do the same thing.
