I mean, it helps that I largely agree with the positions taken, but seriously, A LOT.
AND it's entertaining. And at times scary as fuck. And thrilling. And chilling.
Also, beyond the fact that our primary two characters are black folks, can we talk about how queer relationships are just NORMAL in these books? So normal we see our favorite love priestess set up *multiple queer relationships* and it's just *part of what she does*.
Also the disabled person - or perhaps more accurately, the person we would consider disabled in our society, but it's also just not a big deal in the book, in a good way - has an active, incredible role.
I just... dang, I really like this series, y'all. It's smart. It plays with tropes so intelligently. It's actively anti-racist, anti-homophobic, anti-ableism. It's really cool and I like it A LOT....more
