I can’t quite put my I liked the idea of this but I guess what it boils down to is I didn’t jive with the writing style or the author’s storytelling. I can’t quite put my finger on it, and I don’t think juvenile is the correct word, but I did not like it. Also the pacing was eugh. The fake relationship was to last only 4 weeks so you can tell the timeline was already doomed from the start. And I’d have liked it much more if the author showed us more. Example: there was an event. We saw the fmc getting ready for it. We saw mmc reaction. We got I think a page of them at the event, then it time jumped to them leaving. We saw the first date, then time jumped and we didn’t see any dates in between. It was like we had to imagine all this ourselves instead of the author taking us with the characters. I also did not like the way a conflict was handled. We as the readers were told frequently inside of a POV but the other character never gained this knowledge until later through a different way and it was like “oh. Makes sense. Moving on. It was strange.
I have a feeling I’d love this if someone else got their hands on this and helped the author on a massive rewrite. ...more

I loveeee this book! It was so close to being a 5 ⭐️!but this was def my favorite of the series.. A couple things that still knocked it down-
Isaiah was borderline sexual harassing Kennedy. Once major incident was in the last book, but I do recall a couple times in this book.
Telling- not showing. We constantly heard about how Kennedy was this rigid, organized, type A person.. but we never saw it. I kept forgetting tbh until a character (usually Isaiah) said it.
There is this whole thing about she assumes Isaiah is still hoeing around and no one tells her he went celibate, they just wonder why she thinks that for about 65% of the freaking book.
Then there was the whole Kai’s 3k SO/retirement party when Kennedy, who is married, tries to flirt with a man, never tells him she’s married, then cannot understand why her husband who was at the same party for his brother is hurt. And they never addressed that. In fact, Isaiah got mad, blew up at her and he apologized later, she never took ownership in what she did wrong nor did Isaiah ever bring it up. Like whaattttt.
I just really hate kids in books. I don’t think authors write kids well and I’m not a kid person. It’s just not my thing.
And it just went on too long, ESPECIALLY the epilogue. So much of the book is just repetitive or feels like filler writing .I wish a good editor would get ahold of Liz’s books and go to town....more

I’m not a writer or anything so I’m not sure how to describe what I didn’t like about this book. It’s a dual POV. The writer carried a lot of this story through the dialogue. Meaning we find out things that are going on through dialogue, but very little insight about what the character feels/thinks in that moment. A couple of times I even caught the author recapping what happened in one character’s POV in the other character’s, with no added information. First time I noticed it, I literally said out loud “yes we know, we were there. /confused. There was no conflict until the last little bit of book. I didn’t mind much but I guess I imagined the foreshadowing so I kept waiting and waiting but it never came lol and when the conflict came a main character was one of the worst people, and honestly not sure why they were forgiven so easily. The absolute DISGUSTING things that were said from this character, then when we get their POV, their internal thoughts absolutely did not match the words that actually were said. We get the real thoughts later in the other character m’s OOV during the resolution, which was weird because we were in that person’s POV directly after it happened. Also the resolution of conflict sucked so bad. Ugh.
Overall it was ok. Had the writing been better, it would probably be a 3-3.5 star. Contemporary romance ( is that what this is???) is not my genre (I love romcoms but I’m jonesing so bad for baseball romances. Why are they so hard to come by????) so it was never going to a 5 star or anything. But I did enjoy a lot of my time in this story. All the way up until the last like 15%....more
