And, just like that- The Marlow Murder Club has its third case!
All signs point to MURDER when traces of aconite—also known as the queen of poisons—are found in his coffee cup.
But WHO would want him dead? And WHY?
Judith, Suzie, and Becks are brought in to investigate the murder as civilian advisors right away this time since they had previously worked with Tanika Malik who has recently received a promotion to Detective Inspector of the Maidenhead Police Station.
And, as usual, they seem to always be at least one step ahead of the Police!
The strength of COZY MYSTERIES for me are the characters and this is a likable trio of amateur sleuths led by Judith Potts who is a modern day “Miss Marple, and her friends, Suzie Harris a dogwalker/FM radio host, and Becks Starling-the Vicar’s wife.
Will a mysterious handwritten letter, a scandalous photo or a meddlesome mother-in-law have anything to do with this murder?
I feel this entertaining series is best enjoyed if you start with book #1 “The Marlow Murder Club but after that the subsequent mysteries can be read in any order. I didn’t spot any spoilers in this book for the first two. Review for the “Marlow Murder Club: /review/show...
I needed to catch up with the series before reading “Murder on the Marlow Belle (#4 in the series) which publishes on September 16, 2025. Watch for that review next week!...more

Is there room for another Author Michelle Chouinard Narrated wonderfully by Stephanie Nemeth-Parker 9 hours, 51 minutes at 1x 5 hours 47 minutes at 1.7x
Is there room for another amateur detective and the hot homocide detective she meets when she is being investigated by him as a suspect? (Ala Stephanie Plum or Finlay Donovan?)
YES. Yes, there is!
Capri Sanzio, makes her living giving “serial killer tours of the gorgeous, foggy city of San Francisco-a topic she has been interested in since she was a kid who discovered she’s the granddaughter of serial killer William ‘Overkill Bill Sanzio. She’s always believed in his innocence, though she's never had the time to fully investigate the case.
UNTIL NOW
An “Overkill Bill copycat has struck in San Francisco and Capri’s former mother-in-law, Sylvia, was one of the Victims.
Capri and her daughter, Morgan have somehow become the Prime Suspects, so there is no better time to look into her grandfather’s case, which is back in the news. The police will be looking to the PAST to understand the PRESENT DAY killer.
If she can finally uncover the truth about her grandfather, by documenting the case with a podcast and a book—she might earn the money she needs for her daughter’s school tuition, and also clear his name in the process.
When I was offered a review copy of the second book in the series, “A Tour To Die For publishing 23 September 2025, I had to backtrack and read this one, so I could decide whether or not to read it.
Capri is smart and witty, and I enjoyed her investigation into both cases, so I will read book two-but I am hoping the AUDIBLE will be available in time to make it an immersive read, as I really enjoyed this as an audiobook. ...more

Publisher’s blurb: Six summers to fall in love. One moment to fall apart. A weekend to get it right.
That is actually a great mini synopsis for the book, and it explains my outlier-ish rating!
Six Summers to Fall in Love: Percy meets Sam and his brother Charlie, when her parents buy a lakeside Summer home in Barry’s Bay and her connection with Sam is instantaneous. The majority of the book is “coming of age as we see the pair grow up and fall in love, and it was too YA for MY personal taste.
One moment to fall apart: Mistakes are made, and while I don’t feel that decisions made at age 18 define you-(people would often make a very different choice at age 28) they CAN completely alter your life’s path, nonetheless.
One Weekend to Get it Right: It’s been over a decade since Percy and Sam last spoke. But, when Charlie calls her to share that their Mom Sue has passed away, Percy will return for the funeral- their Mom was like a second Mom to her when she was growing up.
Could this finally be the weekend for honest conversations and perhaps SECOND CHANCES?
I’m glad that this wasn’t the first book that I read by the author as I may NOT have read another because of the coming of age, YA feel- and I would have missed out! But, since I have an early copy of “One Golden Summer, which is Charlie’s love story, I wanted to read this one first.
Although my enjoyment level for this debut novel was ONLY three stars, the writing was closer to four stars, so I am giving it 3.5 stars ⭐️ and generously rounding up.
Based on my enjoyment of her other two books, I am fully expecting to enjoy the sequel more-as I believe that Charlie’s story takes place while he is all grown up, and I am reading it next so I will let you know soon! ...more
