Billie & Marcus broke up 10 years ago, but now he's back in town to deal with a family issue. He can't believe it when he sees Billie working at Books & Beans. He seems quite appalled by it since he still can't believe she walked away from her high paying job in finance...and him.
Wow, Marcus was a real douche and it takes him practically the whole book to get his douchiness in check. I'm not just talking with Billie, he wasn't great with his family either. He just goes about things in the wrong way IMO. I never warmed up to him one bit, not even with the grand gesture, and was hoping she would never give him a chance.
We're quite familiar with Billie from the previous installments and know she's a real sweetheart that just wants to help take care of her family. But when will it be time for her to settle down and fall in love?
Overall, I wasn't a super big fan because of Marcus mostly, and somewhat of Billie's part in what went down back in the day. I would, however, be super interested in tasting some of Billie's delectable baked goods since everyone raves about them.
Narration notes: I am a broken record, but I really wish there was a male narrator even though she does a really good job with male tones.
Series notes: Best to read in order as all siblings are heavily involved in each installment.

Anna, Maggie & Rhea are three very different mothers with very different secrets that come together and form a friendship after discovering a scandal at their children’s school. I really enjoyed how they slowly became great friends that could rely on each other. And they rely on each other until the satisfying ending.
But it's not just the women that have secrets, it's the men too. One hub needed a dose of his own medicine, one you just want to shake with his stupidity and the other I wish was honest sooner.
Overall, a solid read. I found the pace steady and while the storyline was not unique the way it unfolded kept me engaged throughout. I’ll definitely read this author again.
Narration notes: She did do a wonderful job giving each character their own voice, but I really think there should have been 3 narrators.

Felicity & James meet when he shows up, dressed as a penguin, at the animal rescue she works at with a sick kitten on Christmas Eve.
It determined that they both are not fans of Christmas and have a soft spot for animals, so they have a sort of comradery in those respects. However, I never really felt the connection between them. Perhaps because ex's are brought into the picture and took up way too much page time. I'm fine with an ex showing up, but just briefly enough to get kicked to the curb again.
Overall, I liked this well enough for a debut, but there was just too much ex-partner drama for me. I did like her writing style, just not this particular plot, so I would give this author a go again.
Narration notes: She did fine, but it was so slow sounding at 3x that I wish there was a higher option.

Daphne & Tristan Daphne's dream is to open up her own bakery, but in the meantime while she gets enough cash she puts up a pop up bakery in an office building in November and December.
A certain someone, aka "Grinchy Grincherson", is not too thrilled that his building hosts these pop ups every year. They are just so tacky, especially the one that looks like a gingerbread house. But when he needs a caterer for some holiday parties last minute he has no choice but to ask Daphne to help. And then he's asking her for more help when his mom assumes they are together, so she pretends to be his girlfriend.
The grump/sunshine and enemies tropes were well done. I almost thought I was never going to warm up to Tristan, but he eventually won me over. Daphne is full on sunshine all the time, but when she's upset she's not afraid to show it. The support of her parents was phenomenal.
Overall, a cute, festive read that'll satisfy your sweet tooth if you have one, if not then you might just develop one. This totally gives Hallmarky vibes.
Narration notes: Another dual POV with only one narrator, grrr. I’ve listened to many of Samantha’s books, so I just know it's how it always is, but this was someone new. Overall, she did fine, but I wasn’t overly in love with her voice.

Sophie wakes up after a night of drinking not knowing where she is or who she was with. Oof, not a great start to the day and it’s not going to get any better once she realizes she’s locked in with no way out.
I am hit or miss with this author, but this one was a hit for me. It was super suspenseful, but not in a slow moving way. I was really invested in what was going on and very curious how it would all play out. Was the reasoning for the abduction a little lackluster for me? Yes, but I still enjoyed it overall.
Narration notes: She did a really great job. She made me feel like I was right there with how emotional she sounded.

Ellie is finding it hard to convince everyone this is not Carla. Carla is working on discrediting Ellie at every chance she gets. I was really believing Ellie myself, but then Carla was really making her sound unreliable, so I didn’t know who to believe. I like when thrillers mess with me like that.
Overall, the plot is not necessarily new, but it was fast paced and I really liked the ending that took me by surprise.
Side note ~ may I ask what was with all of the tongue clicking? Is that something one does and talks about in England because I’ve never heard it in the US?

Annie & Braden work at the same department store. He’s a security guard and she designs the front window (how fun!). They never really met until they meet over and over and over again for a Christmas Eve do-over 12 times.
Each day is slightly different, but mostly the same things keep happening and Annie needs to figure out how to tweak things in order to get out of the time loop. 12 times is a lot y’all and felt like way too many with all the repetitiveness. I do like the thought behind it being 12 days of Christmas, but again just felt way to long to me.
Overall, there were some cute moments. I liked Christmas Day once we finally got there and the little twist that happened. It has full on Christmasy vibes, even with some Santa magic to put a smile on your face.
Narration notes: While she did do a good job this would really have benefited with a male narrator since it’s dual POV. It's possible I would have enjoyed this more had I read and not listened.

Trey & Marley meet when she drags him from his overturned vehicle. When he wakes up he’s on a mission to find the woman that saved his life. He gets the media involved and it’s deemed a Cinderella story since he only has the shoe she left at the scene to identify her.
Everything moves quickly when he finds her. I don’t love instalove, but I do believe in when you know you know. I liked them both together and separately. She has a take no crap attitude and he was so sweet with a secret career that he’s kept hidden for years. Love the found family she has and hated the awful relationship he has with his.
Overall, an enjoyable Christmas Time Hallmarky Cinderella~ish story.

Tamar, not Tamara or Tammy, is woken in the middle of the night by someone standing in her room. Yikes! But it's just her 80 year old mother, Ruth, who lives in a home 17 miles away. How did she get there in the middle of the night and why are her feet in rough shape?
Then Ruth gets kicked out of her home, so Tamar has no choice but to take her in. They don’t get along, so this is not going to be fun mother/daughter bonding time. There’s a lot of animosity due to childhood trauma and it took a while to find out why.
This is supposed to be a horror novel. I suppose it has some creepy aspects, but I didn’t find it scary or gory or anything like that. Some disturbing and gross things were done for sure. Probably not a good idea to read/listen in the dark.
Overall, a bit slow moving, but I was pleased with the ending even if it was a bit abrupt. Also, liked how Judaism was incorporated throughout.
Narration notes: She did okay. I could have went for a little more emotion at times. Easy to listen to at 3x, which is good since I had to power through to finish for pub date.

Sienna is fresh off a divorce when her bff put an ad in the paper as a joke that she's looking for a husband for hire. Never expecting anyone to respond she's shocked when Guy shows up for an interview. You see Guy's 4 year old daughter, Emma, is in kidney failure and he needs insurance to take care of her. She can't possibly help this man, can she? After thinking about it some Sienna proposes a marriage of convenience. Guy gladly accepts and they're married in less than 24 hours of meeting each other. And I gotta say I don’t hate a marriage of convenience when it’s to try to save a baby’s life.
As you can imagine we get an emotional journey as we follow the difficulties that Emma faces while she waits for a kidney transplant, Guy as a father that is doing the best he can for his daughter, and Sienna as she slowly falls in love with both of them. Sienna's father has dementia, so that brings out some heart wrenching moments as well.
Overall, a heartwarming story with characters you can't help but fall in love with and root for.
Narration notes: I thought she did a great job. She really gave Guy a somber tone, which worked well for everything this character is facing day to day.

Presley & Briggs Presley is hiding out on the island after an unbecoming video of her lashing out goes viral. She’s bored with sneaking around the island in her hoodie and sunglasses. Somehow she keeps ending up at the bookshop to see the handsome man with great recommendations.
Briggs is working at his family’s bookshop after his startup company flops. What a sweet fella he was. He had a wonderful relationship with his mom and 14 year old sister. Loved what his apartment looked like, too.
Absolutely could not stand that 3rd act, no surprise there. But the accusatory remarks were for the birds. And what she did to save her career back in LA, unacceptable. Also, really with Presley’s mom…she was something else. Typical mom that pushes her daughter to be in the spotlight because she wants it herself. I could not believe who she was dating either.
Overall, there were some adorable moments and I liked them together a lot. I loved the slow friends to lovers vibes of them getting to know each other. The list of things Presley never got to experience as a child that they did together was really cute, too.
Series notes: The timeline is the same for each book meaning the characters from other books in the series are in the background, but haven’t necessarily had their story told yet. I like this way of doing things since it doesn’t make it absolutely necessary to read them in order, but it’ll be better if you do. This didn't have too many references to other characters though, which I found odd. Maybe because it was the last one?

Rachel and Grandpa Eric are house and dog sitting for her sister, Maddie and brother in law, Frank. They’re in a posh town, but it’s a small town where hardly anyone likes The Baxters. I don’t blame the town one bit after meeting him.
Humphrey the dog is quite mischievous, but also a do-gooder. At first I was like can’t they get a handle on this dog and keep him from running away, but then when he’s helpful all my thoughts on that go out the window.
The romance between Rachel and Ben is a slow burn and doesn’t happen until much later in the book. They didn’t get off on the right foot, but eventually they grew to care for each other. I loved the ‘link that brought them together.
I didn't particularly care for Rachel all the much, or her mother and aunts for that matter. Actually there's a whole crew of unlikable characters, with only a handful of nice ones.
This is more about Rachel's journey of figuring her life out after losing her BFF and her job, and spending time with grandpa (my favorite part). Grandpa was great and I loved their bond. Always up for an adventure and just trying to live out the rest of his life how he wants.
Overall, there were some heartwarming moments amidst the chaos in this snowy Christmasy read.
Narration notes: She did fine. She differentiated her voices well for an array of characters.

Lucy & Jax Lucy has been mad at Jax for years, ever since he destroyed her brother’s chance in the NFL. But could she possibly not have all her facts straight and maybe the enemy really isn’t one and he’s just a sweetheart?
Jax is looking to open up a camp for disabled children, and he needs Lucy’s help. It’s going to take some convincing on his part in order to get her on board with teaming up with him on anything after what he put her family through.
Of course, being a professional athlete, we have some drama with another woman that causes issues with this job.
Overall, I really liked these two together. They were really cute and sweet. Of course I wish the 3rd act was handled differently, but all works out fine. Also, I really enjoyed Jax’s relationship with his brothers, not sure the extra family drama was needed, though.
Series notes: I’m usually very strict on reading the series in order, but somehow I missed book 2. His brothers do make some appearances, but I’d say this is fine as a standalone.
Narration notes: I’ve listened to many, many books of Samantha’s and it’s always Amy narrating. I’ve come accustomed to there only being 1. She does fine, her male voices aren’t that bad, but we all know I’d prefer a male narrator.

Content warning from the author: Closed door romantic comedy, no explicit scenes on the page, but there are steamier makeout scenes. Toxic parents in the present and loss of a loved one in the past
Ellie & Miles Ellie needs some extra income to open up a floral shop, so she takes a job as an assistant to pro golfer, Miles. Unfortunately, she doesn't know a tee time from tea time or how to zip it during a swing.
I'm thrilled to see golf represented in a sports romance because I don't think there are too many out there. The author does a nice job of explaining the game, but for me it bogged the story down slightly since I'm quite familiar with the ins and outs of it. My hub plays practically every weekend (except for the next couple of months, since he broke his arm), I play once in a while and my dog is even named after one of the greats, Arnie. Family fun fact ~ he's left handed, but plays right handed and I'm right handed, but play left handed.
Loved Ellie's relationship with her sister and nephew. Her reason for hating golf seemed a little crazy in my opinion, but to each their own.
So I liked Miles well enough, but I'm kind of over the whole 'I can't ever settle down and fall in love because my parents are awful and terrible role models'. Don't get me wrong, they were a nightmare, but geez follow your own heart dude. He does have some pretty great friends to keep him in check.
Overall, full of sass, banter and some cute moments.
Series notes: Book 1’s characters make some appearances, so it'd be nice if you read that one first, but I suppose it's not totally necessary.
Narration notes: Overall, they both did fine. Dillon's female voice wasn't great, but I pretty much expect that now.

Ivy (28) & Dax (28) see each other again after 10 years when she accidentally DUI’s the golf cart right through the window of his mechanic shop, breaking his beloved Lego car. The judge orders her to do 200 hours of community service to rebuild it.
If there’s one thing I can’t stand, it's parents of full blown adults thinking they can make choices for them and tell them what to do. Ivy is a very mature woman with a PHD. Yes, she accidentally got a DUI, but she still has her head on her shoulders, so I’m pretty sure she can make her own decisions. You know what happens when you try to tell your child to stay away from someone? They do the opposite, which I know from experience. His name was Alex if you’re wondering.
Overall, they were so adorable and sweet together. I loved the flashbacks to their interactions in high school to see where it all started for them. Their banter was perfect then and now. Dax was one the sweetest bad boy I've ever read. I was thrilled when Ivy finally stood up to her father.

Laurel & Rob have just moved into the house on Cold Creek Lane in New Jersey with their toddler, Jasper, and newborn baby, Poppy. There are a few neighbors we meet, who don’t give off a likable vibe, and neither does Rob. What a right douche he was, and it apparently runs in the family since his sister was not any better.
Corey is in Florida and we slowly learn how she’s connected to Cold Creek Lane and it’s heartbreaking. I really liked her no nonsense ways and how her part in the story played out.
Even though I totally had the culprit pegged, it didn’t take away from my enjoyment. The pace was steady and the conclusion was satisfying. Also, I liked the quick nod to a character in Liz’s last book The Perfect Neighborhood, (Rachel) which I don’t think I would have caught if I hadn’t just read it recently.
Narration notes: Not sure which one is Laurel’s narrator, but oof with her kid voice, a bit grating on the ears. She did fine for all other voices. Corey’s sounded perfect for how her character seemed, which was just over it and mad at the world.

Jane & Walker Jane is ready to settle down and find love on the island she adores. She uses popular book tropes to set the tone. And boy do we hear the word trope a bunch, a bit too much obsessively tropey for me. But now her school crush is back in town putting a damper on her plans to find love this summer.
Walker is ready to get his golf game back on track after an injury. He’s not interested in being on the island any longer than he needs to, but his sister's best friend catches his eye. Will the fun times they have together make him change his mind and stay? Or is hanging with Brooks Koepka and Tiger Woods more appleaing? That’d be a yes to Brooks for me, wink wink.
I could’ve gone without the time wasting because of the sister crap, but overall this was cute, had some nice banter and a great series starter. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store for the rest of the island peeps.
Narration notes: Duet!! Whoop whoop! Both of their voices were pleasing to my ears.
