But I just work by myself, and the nature of my work means not having a huge amount of customers.
I learnt a few really helpful tips in earlier parts of the book, but most of it didn't seem particularly relevant to me, it seems far more focused on larger companies IMO...more

I've read all of SD Perry's other Alien novels (I think) and found them to be really anti-climactic due to how poorly the xenos were portrayed, but in this one I feel she did a far better job. The Xenos were much more deadly and I loved how relentless they were.
I could have done without 2/3 of the book being just a huge buildup revolving around sex workers and drug addicts, but once the action finally started I thought it was great.
Story-wise it was nothing special, probably less interesting than SD Perrys other Alien novels that I've read, but I'd say I prefer this simply because the Xenos caused plenty of slaughter!...more

The rest was just a super-serious tale of love, heartache and tragedy, with a load of domestic violence and male oppression thrown in for good measure.
I gotta say this was NOTHING LIKE what I was expecting from the title and synopsis
I got about 1/3 of the way through and skimmed the rest just to see what happened!...more

I gotta say it was Reclamation by Yvonne Navarro that really stood out for me, that was really well done and the Xenos in it were fucking brutal.
I also loved Deep Background and Empty nest, for similar reasons.
Darkness Falls was cool though quite far-fetched and felt a little fairytale-esque. I also enjoyed Dangerous Prey by Scott Sigler, though felt the aliens seemed a little frail and scared.
Out of the none-xeno stories (which unfortunately is most of them) my favourite would have to be Reaper - I loved the combination of 'epic' and 'bleakness'... with a lot of suspense
Episode 22 was interesting, unique and quite comical
Apart from that, I found the rest of the book really bland. I have zero interest in reading about marines fighting random monsters and shit... not unless xenos are involved too.
'No Good Deed' by Ray Garton has gotta be one of the most anti-climactic stories Ive ever read. It started off SO GOOD but when that "twist" happened I thought 'WTF am I reading here"...more

The alien action was well done, I just would have preferred it if it wasn't so focused on humans.
I also don't find it quite as exciting when the xenos are preying on helpless, unarmed scientists. I would have loved it if a few more ex-marines had been thrown in just so the aliens had more to slaughter.
Still a cool story nonetheless and I liked how the power loader was incorporated too...more
