This book should be for anyone who wants to work in a team, as it provides very useful suggestions on how to approach the role of organising people's efforts towards achieving a reasonably large objective.
The hard part I would say, is to practice what the book has advocated, because dealing with humans are the harder aspects of software development. ...more

In fact, this book feels more like an instruction manual than any of the conversational books that I have read. So depending on your preference, this book may or may not be up your alley.
Some of the advice really feels very practical, but naturally, with anything that you hope to learn or achieve, you need to put in the practice yourself. Definitely one of the top conversation books that I would recommend anyone.
In particular, I like how the author goes from basics to advance tips, and slowly building up the context on how to handle different difficult conversations. Do note that this book covers the conversations that are really seemingly impossible (conversations with terrorists, racists, bigots...), so some of the more advanced tips are a tad more extreme I feel, and may not be as helpful. That said, just read the more basic chapters then. Which also means you can cover the more necessary parts and gain what you need. Don't finish the entire book if you don't want to. ...more

As an introvert, I could easily relate to the many incidents and misunderstandings that the book brought out. I feel that I have a better understanding of my own style, and removing myself from years of thinking how inadequate I am as a human being.
I am giving the book 4 stars only though because I was hoping for more practical steps into how I can be a better introvert. You will get a lot of background into the research of introverts and personalities, but not that much helpful (there is some) advice on how to amplify the strengths of introverts. ...more

My favourite sections were the first 2 sections on establishing your own Quiet Time and Preparation. They kind of put me through the rest of the book looking for similar inspirations. Consider just reading those 2 sections, and skimming through the rest of the book. That's what I did. ...more

In general, the book does provide some interesting basic principles in design. However, there were certain parts that were not as necessary to me, such as printing, photo-editing, and physical visual layouts. These were the parts that I really skimmed through.
There are also certain parts of the book that are good primers that I can build upon foot my own design learning journey, which would have to be built from other materials. So in a way, this book does provide me with some view on what next I should read up....more

Naturally, I didn't do that, because I don't have a 100 days to read one book.
But maybe that's why I need a book to kind of slow me down as well. If that is what you want, this book is a good start, but be warned, it might frustrate you as well. Reason being that even though I felt the book was good at the start, but kind of was repeating itself by 1/2 of the book.
Ironically, the book had a part about "forcing yourself to complete a book because you don't want to be seen as a quitter" (not exact quotes though). In the end, I rushed through about the last 1/3 of the book, and kind of went through a phase of "I finally completed this book!" moment.

The book is interesting. It challenges ones' notion of what visiting an art museum entrails. However, many of the things covered by the book seem to be reaching out to art curators and museums organisers than actual museum goers. Bringing a chair into the museum or having a window in the gallery all seems interesting concepts, except I, as a museum go-er, can't really work on those things.
That said, there are interesting nuggets of information that makes this book interesting. To me, this was about 15% of the book.
Would I read this book if I knew what I would get into? Most probably, but I would spend less time on it. I assume there are better art books out there. ...more

That said, this book does have nudges of useful reminders (nothing is really new) that span not only from Stoicism (his previous 2 books were mainly focused on Stoicism concepts), but also other fields.
Ryan Holiday also tried to make his writing for this book more simple, which might make the book feel less serious and helpful. If you have never read Ryan Holiday's other Stoicism books, I would advice to cover those first.
