WOOOOOOW this book blew me away. The ending stabbed me in the heart. (view spoiler)[ (pun intended) (hide spoiler)]
First, starting off with the characters. Callie was a great main character. I found her interesting and was really invested in her journey. Throughout this book, Callie is trying to escape her fate that was sent to her in her future memory...where she kills her sister. Since Callie has a kind heart and loves her sister, she does not want her memory to come true and does whatever she can to escape this fate. I honestly can say that she is one of the most compelling characters I've read about and I can't wait for more of her story in the sequel. She's such an admirable girl.
And then there's Logan, the love interest. This guy is really too perfect. If there's one thing that I have to critique this book on, it's that Logan should have had a bigger character flaw. One little thing that he was flawed at though was not standing up for himself. His brother took control of him too much and Logan never got to make his own decisions. So that wasn't too good. But other than that, I found him incredibly sweet and fell in love with him just as much as Callie did.
As for Jessa, Callie's sister, I wish there would have been more of her in the book since she isn't seen a lot. But she is mentioned a lot by Callie. I think if this book was written in multiple perspective, we could have gotten to know her a bit more. But from what I did learn from her, she seems like a sweetheart and I agree with Callie that I couldn't picture myself ever killing her.
The world building was good. Not as fantastic as other dystopian world buildings I've read about but one thing I appreciate is that the world was easy to understand. Often times, world building goes over my head and it gets frustrating when I can't grasp the concept. But I didn't have any problems with it in this book. In fact, I found it so interesting. The concept of receiving memories from your future self that helps you determine how your life is going to turn out, carrier wise, etc. is so intriguing and a unique genre and I think Pintip Dunn did this concept justice. Plus the amount of twists throughout this book were unbelievable. Specifically, the last ten pages had me on the edge of my seat!
One other reason why I think I liked this book so much is that the romance is heavily present. Most dystopian books have romance but I've never read one where the romantic storyline is just as present as the main one. And (being a romance fanatic) I really enjoyed that. The romance between Callie and Logan was beautiful and believable. At first it came off instalovey to me, but then I remembered that they've known each other since they were kids. It was just the fact that they hadn't spoken to each other for five years that made me think that. But it wasn't an issue. I was rooting for their relationship to work throughout the book. They had setbacks, but I loved how they seemed to find a way to work it out and be together.
In conclusion to this longest goodreads review I've ever done, I highly recommend to pick up this beautiful book. Thanks to BookTube Tours and Entangled Teen for sending me a copy! :)...more

It's so good and I never get tired of it. Looking for Alaska is about Miles and his journey and experience in boarding school. This book is pretty different from John Green's other books. I've only read TFIOS and Paper Towns and Looking for Alaska has some different characters than in those books. The plot was hardly ever boring and had some fun twists and turns happening while Miles was attending this school.
Every character had such a distinct personality. Miles is an awkward sort of character as he's going through a coming of age time in his life. One thing I love about him is his obsession with famous people's last words. It's such a unique trait I never would have thought to give to a character. Watching him get thrown into these other characters lives where everyone smokes and drinks was interesting since he was more reserved than everyone else. I'll admit that Alaska is the most annoying character but she is also fascinating. She's outgoing and reckless and I loved how she brought Miles out of his shell.
The romance follows the manic pixie dream girl trope that reminds me a lot of Paper Towns. Miles was infatuated with Alaska instantly and was in love with her so early on that it was pretty unrealistic. But I couldn't help but still love their relationship regardless. Miles also had another relationship with a Russian girl (who was adorable) that was well developed but I don't think it was necessary.
I've always loved John Green's writing. I found so many amazing quotes in Looking for Alaska that I'll always remember.
I'm sure I'll reread this book in the future. I just love it! And it's for sure my favorite John Green book....more
