Highly recommend this series. Now am off to reread the 1st one again cause WHY NOT ^^...more

Joanna is by far the most enjoyable character i have met in regards to Sherlock Holmes, which is saying much as i actually don't like the heartless idiot ^^' Her mind challenges that of her father and probably exceeds him and am really happy about her character development regarding the emotional side (read above for clarification). I really can't wait to start the second book (which is currently downloading as am loving the audiobook). I highly recommend it to any sherlockian who misses the adventures of Holmes and Watson ^^...more

I was a little bit confusHaving fallen in love with the author's other series (Detective Jude Fontaine) I was really excited to start this series.... I was a little bit confused listening to it (maybe due to the narrator being new to my ears) but as the story moved on, I was being pulled into it and was looking forward to finding out more of Elise's background and history plus all the Root magic aspect intrigued me very much. The flow and pace were good and easy on the ears and there wasn't any information dump which is something I dislike in mystery novels. All in all, am looking forward to continuing with this series. ...more

The flow never stopped for a little rest, it just kept going at full speed but it didn't ruin the plot, in fact it made it more enjoyable as you race along maggie to solve the case. the deeper you go into the case the worse it becomes till you reach a point where you have to decide whether you want to continue to go forward. the good thing is that the author managed to insert little happy points to help ease the tension of the story which made me glad to continue. looking forward to reading the next book. ...more
