Honestly, this book changed me fundamentally. I cannot even sum up in words how much I adore this book, its setting, its characters, and most importantly its humour. I have not met characters that I have loved so much for a really long time (I need a charlie in my life ASAP, but more on that later). This book made me laugh out loud...multiple times - even over re-reads.
I will forever keep coming back to this, no matter what and I am also pretty sure this book is a sure shot banger to get out of any miserable reading slump....more

Going in I wasn't sure what to expect, by the looks of the book synopsis I was like oh maybe just another YA but boy oh boy!
Natalie's parents are getting divorced. Her (only) two best friends are in love and seem to have got it all together and she's just third-wheeling and seeing where everything goes. but our girl Nat also talks about acne, scars, stretch marks which is usually not things books deal with. She is smart and witty but has low self-esteem that makes her socially awkward all the time. I HAVE NOT RELATED MYSELF THIS STRONGLY TO ANY CHARACTER IN SO LONG. Although she did get on my nerves on some point but I get where she's coming from and it was all resolved in the end.
Enter Alex. Her best friend's brother. The complete opposite of her. Of course, they're endgame. The romance is not movie romance. Not fluffy kind; the one that makes you go awww - yes it does have lots of aw moments but also it's realistic. it's very cute!
It was a rom-com with both rom and com. Seriously. I laughed out loud many times. The characters were all charming and I gave all of them a piece of my heart. The writing was lovely too and I can't wait to read more from Kenwood!!
Also, everyone is from Australia! beautiful place!!! ...more

Huge shoutout to this book and my buddy who recommended this to me as it got me out of my months-long reading slump.
I love me a good murder mystery. Pippa, the main character, is working on solving an old mystery as her project report. Andie bell disappeared five years ago, the blame went to her boyfriend Sal Singh - purely circumstantial which Pippa doesn't believe. She sets out to befriend Sal's brother Ravi to solve this age-old mystery to prove Sal's innocence.
The writing style, the format was so captivating. the use of media sources, interviews, transcripts as well as present-day narratives with high stakes made me feel involved, as though I was running the investigation. And what impressed me the most was the resources Pippa used are our day to day resources that a regular teen has access to - making it far realistic and more believable.
I literally stayed up ALL night to finish this book. I had to know!!!!! my mind was jumping from suspects to suspects but I initially had my doubts on the end culprit but I shrugged it off. But what a rush! I never expected that ending
I can go on and on about how amazing this book is or reason out all the great aspects of it but a better way to put it will be - RECOMMEND. PLEASE, PICK IT UP....more

This book is so short but filled with so many wonderful quotes. “My own definition is a feminist is a man or a woman who says, yes, there’s a problem with gender as it is today and we must fix it, we must do better. All of us, women and men, must do better.
“I have chosen to no longer be apologetic for my femaleness and my femininity. And I want to be respected in all of my femaleness because I deserve to be.
“Some people ask: “Why the word feminist? Why not just say you are a believer in human rights or something like that? Because that would be dishonest. Feminism is, of course, part of human rights in general—but to choose to use the vague expression of human rights is to deny the specific and particular problem of gender. It would be a way of pretending that it was not women who have, for centuries, been excluded. It would be a way of denying that the problem of gender targets women....more

I don't even know how to properly put into words how I feel about this book. This was such an emotional roller coaster ride. I loved every bit of it. Reading some parts of it actually physically hurt. The powerful message of kindness, friendship and love is captured wonderfully. Not to forget, it was able to shed lights on dark matters like child abuse and mental health in an efficient way.

Within a span of short few pages, Wilde is able to put forth so many themes of love, sacrifice, materialism and complex emotions. We are too often so wrapped up in glamorous things that we fail to feel the contentment that comes out of most ordinary things in life. Much like his other works, with a subtle touch of humour and some great and memorable prose like :
"What a silly thing Love is"
“Ah, on what little things does happiness depend! I have read all that the wise men have written, and all the secrets of philosophy are mine, yet for want of a red rose is my life made wretched....more

This book. I have no words absolutely.
Gilman, just in a few pages, has been able to capture the darker themes of women's subordinate role in marriage, the importance of making yourself heard and expressed meanwhile mocking at the resting cure. Also, what a great mental health rep.
I could feel everything being portrayed in the book and was already going crazy over the yellow wallpaper which didn't even exist. Her husband had her on physical rest on all times refusing her to pursue what she wants or do something to take the mind of her illness but he's a great husband. So this is like sweet torture. As she is not able to control other aspects of her life she gets obsessed with the only thing there is - the yellow wallpaper.
Some of the lines absolutely slap -

“I cry at nothing, and cry most of the time.
“John doesn't know how much I really suffer. He knows there is no reason to suffer, and that satisfies him. It is getting to be a great effort for me to think straight. Just this nervous weakness I suppose. ...more
