Knihovnice mi říkala, že tolik knih určitě nepřečtu, ale já jí vždy odporoval: Ale ano, vsaďte se. Za dva tři dny jsem tu zas a půjčím si dalších deset! A pak, mnohem později, se má fascinace spojila s myšlenkou, že by se knihovny měly chránit. Když mi bylo třicet, napsal jsem povídku s názvem ,Chodec�. Odehrávala se v budoucnosti a vyprávěla o muži, který byl zatčen za to, že si vyrazil pěšky na procházku. Ta povídka vyšla tiskem, líbila se, a tak jsem se k ní později vrátil a poslal jsem ve svém psacím stroji chodce na noční procházku znovu.
