Smart, funny, sassy and romantic - this book really surprised me. It took me a few chapters to fully get into it, but when I did, it had me hooked. Clever writing, engaging characters and a few little twists that kept me guessing what was going to happen next, plus a hot romance that made me want more more more. I hope Edwina Darke has more like this up her sleeve becuase then I'll be a happy reader.

A precurser book to Irresistable You, I loved finding out how the hero and heroine came together in the first place. Their turbulent relationship was hot and full of passion. This book didn't have all the humour of the first, but it was still hugely enjoyable none the less. A truly lovely romantic read.

Funny, quirky and romantic - this book hit all the right spots for me. It's marketed as a chic lit - but I think this is selling this book way short. There is a warmth here often missing in chic lit which, while witty, can often be too smart arse and quippy for me. That was not this book. Loved the characters. Loved the setting. Loved the writing.

They were used with warmth and understanding that made them fresh and true for the hero and heroine of Outback Bride. Not to mention it was clear that the author has a true love and understanding of what it means to live on an expansive property in the outback of Australia.
I really felt the love Lara Burke has for Jindaburra and the hurt that never went away when she was made to feel like she could never have a part of it and her torn feelings over now being handed it after she'd built a life and a career for herself elsewhere just made me keep turning the pages.
The passion between Lara and her old flame, Jake, was palpable and even though you know that in this kind of romance novel there has to be a happy ever after, or at least a happy for now, there were times I wondered how on earth they would ever find a way of coming together.
But Louise Reynolds is a clever romance writer and she managed the HEA with that lovely 'aahh' moment at the end. All in all, a very enjoyable read. I look forward to Louise's next novel.

I really enjoyed Louise Reynold's first novel, Her Italian Aristocrat, but I enjoyed this one more, which kind of surprised me because I am rather partial to romances set in Italy. But I do like a rural romance too, and this one slotted into that genre with warm assurity.

This lovely, gentle Regency romance was exactly what I needed to while away a rainy Saturday (no washing or housework done as a result!) I really enjoyed the interactions between the hero and heroine. The conflicts were simple but really well woven into the story and even though you knew what the hero needed to do to set things to rights after his letter went astray with disastrous consequences, it was really well done how author, Sasha Cottman got us to that place. The hero was an alpha-type with beta qualities that made him really endearing and a nice change from some other overbearing alpha-type heroes who always tell the heroine what to do. I also loved that he was interested right from the start and it was her who had to be convinced.As for the heroine, Millie, she was the proverbial duckling who turned into a swan, but what I really liked about her, was her transformation wasn't overdone (she didn't become a diamond) and that the hero loved her and was attracted to her right from the first. It was a great message about attraction and appearances.
A thoroughly enjoyable and lovely read that I'd be happy to read again.

This might be Jen's first book, but you can't tell. I really enjoyed it. Finished it in one go. It was an easy read and predictable in the kind of good way that this kind of romance book should be. THe romance was a little slow at the start, but then, the when they fired up, the burn was good and really made me want them to get together.
Jen does the OS locations really well. I've been to Venice and I could see it all again so clearly.
A really great read. Bring on more.

I really enjoyed this book, as I have Jen's other novels. It is a true romance, where the essence of the novel revolves around the two main characters and stays there. Although, unlike her other two novels, there was the element of suspense in there, which I really enjoyed too.

The book was incredibly well written with a depth of character and amazing worldbuilding that says it was written by a master in the field of fantasy. I liked how the chapters were from one person's POV and this did help to keep the pacing up at times in the novel where it felt like there wasn't much happening. There's a lot of political playing in the shadows and thinking that goes on at times and while I enjoyed the depth this added to the overall plot and characters, it did tend to slow down the pace a bit - which was why I could put it down. That's not to say that I found it boring - the opposite. I was always interested in the characters (and I absolutely have my favourites - Arya and Daenerys and Tyrion to name the most favourites) and I thought the female characters were very strongly drawn and it was refreshing to see the females in fantasy fiction truly holding their own against the men - it reminded me very much of the 'Daughter of the Empire' series by Raymond E. Feist and Janny Wurtz in this respect.
The one thing that did trouble me occasionally about this was the age of the characters. The thought of a 13 year old girl being married to a man in his 30's was a bit icky at first. The only thing that saved the day for me in regards to this was the fact she really was no child and also it was made very clear that this was set in a time similar in period to the Dark Ages and Medieval period where marriages were made among children and having your period meant you were ready for sex and children. Still, at times, I did struggle with the idea of so many of the characters being so young and the things they had to deal with (but this is probably just the mother coming out in me.)
I have already started the next book in the series and can't wait to read more or this remarkable work.

I really enjoyed this book and the only reason I've not given it 5 stars is because it didn't have that 'can't put it down' quality the books I've given 5 stars to have. I'm not sure whether this was because I'd seen the show first and the show is pretty much the book, so there were no surprises. I do hope that this isn't truly the end. There was an end, but there was also hope for more and I would love to re-enter my favourite fantasy world again and take adventures with its characters once again.

I loved this book, but now I'm very sad. I've been reading this series for 23 years since first picking up Magician and falling in love with the world of Midkemia and Pug, Arutha, Jimmy the Hand and all their friends. While I can always revisit the books and spend time with these old friends again and again (as I've done many times over the years), it's like someone has told me a friend is dead because I can never learn anything new about these people in this story again, and that is sad.
But apart from sadness, there is also a great sense of relief, because being the end, this book could have been a massive letdown. ]]> 432 Anna Cowan Leisl 5 Untamed made me think that if Jane Austen was writing novels now about the Regency period, this was how she would write - raw and real, and almost purposefully clumsy when the emotions of her characters are high, which is as it should be in a true representation of them, because they are not, nor should they be, highly polished when it comes to their emotions. They are so jagged at times, it almost felt like being cut by them. It was an astonishing way to write and astonishing to read, and I loved every second. In fact, I couldn't put it down and lost quite a bit of sleep!
Aside from the actual writing, Untamed was unusual and very unlike a Regency romance in some ways, but in others, it conspired to include all the elements that I love - the wit, the romanticised world that still seems fully lived in, the larger than life secondary characters, the little subplots, and most of all, a hero and heroine that fully deserve their story.
It was unconventional in that the hero was efeminate (he spends a great portion of the book dressed as a woman and playing at being one - but like the Scarlet Pimpernell, he was not truly feminine, just played at it for his own purposes) and the heroine was quite ballsy and took the 'male role' for most of the book, looking after everyone from a financial and physical aspect. But this did not worry me as it has worried some reviewers. In fact, the scenes where Kit (the heroine) removes Jude's (the hero)dress, had a huge amount of sexual tension in them and were some of the sexiest scenes I've ever read.
But aside from all the unconventional aspects, the thing I liked was that the heroine began the story being the 'untamed' of the title, and she finished the book still 'untamed'. I think I would have been disappointed if this marvellous, real, everyday heroine was 'tamed'. Nobody was tamed in this novel. They just learned to accept each other and be happy with who they are and for those who surround them if they were happy - and that was the true lesson of it. That, and that there truly is someone out there for everyone, capable of loving them and seeing them for who they are, and not wanting who they are to change. It was a wonderful read and I recommend it to anyone who loves Regency to step out of the norm and give it a go.

This book came with a lot of hype, and for me, it lived up to it. I love Regency romance. I really enjoyed this novel. It had a depth of emotion to it that can be sometimes missing from lighter romances (not that there's anything wrong with that - I'm all for lighter romances. They were my mainstay before bed when I was reading Chaucer and Shakespeare at uni and needed something that I could just enter, enjoy and give me lovely, pleasant dreams.)

This was a lovely story with a feisty heroine worthy of her Scottish Laird and a Scottish Laird that could only learn what he needed to learn about love and life from the feisty heroine. I loved the unconventional way they met and the thing that ultimately brought them together made me have that lovely aah moment at the end.

I loved this book as I loved the first two. It was a breathless, fast paced read that I couldn't put down with characters that made me laugh and cry with them and a world that is so well drawn, I have no problem picturing the steamy, dark, dangerous and decadent half light city. I was sorry when I finished this book and that there wasn't more (my only criticism, really - I wanted more time with the hero and heroine.)
I can't wait to read the next in this exciting series.

I really enjoyed this book. THe world is rich and fully formed, I got a sense of it from the first page. I loved the characters and their backgrounds - the insurmountable odds to get over to finally be together really did seem almost insurmountable, adding to the tension. I also loved the suspensful plot woven throughout - it kept the whole thing buzzing and when I thought back later to everything that had gone on in the book, I thought the author wove a huge amount together in a cohesive way that just kept building the tension. THis made the climax, while something I thought might happen, still really work, because there was always that, 'will they, won't they' or 'are they really going to do that' moments.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance mixed with their paranormal/fantasy. Can't wait to read the next one.
