<![CDATA[Hidden Potential: The Science of Achieving Greater Things]]> 157066095 #1 New York Times bestseller

"This brilliant book will shatter your assumptions about what it takes to improve and succeed. I wish I could go back in time and gift it to my younger self. It would've helped me find a more joyful path to progress."
-Serena Williams, 23-time Grand Slam singles tennis champion

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of Think Again illuminates how we can elevate ourselves and others to unexpected heights.

We live in a world that’s obsessed with talent. We celebrate gifted students in school, natural athletes in sports, and child prodigies in music. But admiring people who start out with innate advantages leads us to overlook the distances we ourselves can travel. We can all improve at improving. And when opportunity doesn’t knock, there are ways to build a door.

Hidden Potential offers a new framework for raising aspirations and exceeding expectations. Adam Grant weaves together groundbreaking evidence, surprising insights, and vivid storytelling that takes us from the classroom to the boardroom, the playground to the Olympics, and underground to outer space. He shows that progress depends less on how hard you work than how well you learn. Growth is not about the genius you possess it’s about the character you develop. Grant explores how to build the character skills and motivational structures to realize our own potential, and how to design systems that create opportunities for those who have been underrated and overlooked.

This book reveals how anyone can rise to achieve greater things. The true measure of your potential is not the height of the peak you’ve reached, but how far you’ve climbed to get there.]]>

<![CDATA[Women of Means: The Fascinating Biographies of Royals, Heiresses, Eccentrics and Other Poor Little Rich Girls]]> 52719077 A deep dive into the lives of rich and famous women in history. "Wild and witty, gossipy, and glamorous. A sheer delight." --Becca Anderson, author of Badass Women Give the Best Advice and The Book of Awesome Women

#1 Bestseller in Women's Studies and Rich & Famous & Royalty Biographies

From the author of Great Second Acts and Behind Every Great Man, we now have Women of Means, vignettes of the women who were slated from birth--or marriage--to great privilege, only to endure lives which were the stuff of Russian tragic heroines.

Women of Means is full of the best biographies of all time. Some of the women whose silver spoons rusted
- Almira Carnarvon, the real-life counterpart to Lady Cora of Downton Abbey
- Liliane Bettencourt, whose chemist father created L'Oreal . . . and was a Nazi collaborator
- Peggy Guggenheim, who had an insatiable appetite for modern art and men
- Nica Rothschild, who traded her gilded life to become the Baroness of Bebop
- Jocelyn Wildenstein, who became a cosmetology-enhanced cat-woman
- Ruth Madoff, the dethroned queen of Manhattan
- Patty Hearst, who trod the path from heiress to terrorist

"If you've ever wished you had all the money in the world, read Women of Means by Marlene Wagman-Geller. Written in her usual witty prose, these enthralling but petrifying mini-biographies show that when a woman is too wealthy, it can be a curse rather than a blessing."--Jill G. Hall, author of The Green Lace Corset

"Wagman-Geller's stories made me gasp and lodged my chin firmly on my chest as she chronicled the lives of women without a financial care in the world, whose appetites led so often to disaster."--R. D. Kardon, author of Flygirl]]>

The Rothschilds 26194091
In the late eighteenth century, it was a gentle, astute Jew born in a Frankfurt ghetto, Mayer Amschel Rothschild, whose interest in old coins and canny investments would set the family on the path to becoming one of the most powerful dynasties of Europe.

Ennobled by the Austrian Emperor, soon the Rothschild name would become a household name.

Kings and princes, generals and businessmen, whether their move was political or economic, in a time of war or a time of peace, the controlling force behind them would be the Rothschild family.

Dazzlingly rich, the energetic, brilliant and downright extraordinary members of the Rothschild family were the force responsible for innovations in banking throughout the nineteenth century.

Times have changed and dynasties crumbled, but this marvelously rich history tells how the Rothschilds always endure.]]>

The Astors 26010921 The Astors; whose immense fortune came from furs, ships, and real estate; whose mansions bejewelled Fifth Avenue, Newport, and England; who became leaders first in America, then in Britain of polite society; whose births and deaths, private feuds and public scandals, political ambitions and philanthropic munificence have fascinated the rest of the world for close to two centuries. The story of their rise to prominence, of their long reign, of their influence and importance, is more than the saga of a rich and unusual family, for it illuminates from a unique vantage point the history of the past two hundred years. When twenty-year-old John Jacob Astor arrived in icebound Baltimore from Germany in 1783, his ambition was to live comfortably from the sale of musical instruments. At his death in 1848, he was the richest man in America he ruled over an empire and had founded a dynasty. Today’s generation of Astors, still wealthy, lead influential but less flamboyant lives than their predecessors as modest businessmen, horse breeders, playboys, philanthropists, novelists. But between them and their ancestor John Jacob who had spent his early years trudging along Indian trails bartering for furs and his last fourteen years quadrupling his fortune many times over on Manhattan real estate and rentals lies a peerless array of characters, social and political forces in their own times, whose power and prestige continue to be felt today. There was William Backhouse Astor, frugal and sombre, who loathed social gatherings. There was the Southerner Charlotte Augusta, who during the Civil War raised and equipped a regiment of black soldiers to fight for the North. There was Caroline Astor, who gave balls costing as much as $200,000. There was the vindictive, prickly William Waldorf Astor, who unsuccessfully ran for Congress. There was an Astor feud settled only by the prospect of financial gain with the creation of the Waldorf-Astoria, designed to bring exclusiveness to the masses, a “glittering incandescent fantasy. And there was Nancy Astor, vociferous Member of Parliament and leader of the Cliveden Set. From the free-wheeling entrepreneurial days of the early nineteenth century through two world wars to today, the Astors have been in the forefront of their age, both here and abroad, luminaries of politics, society, and culture. Virginia Cowles(1910-1983) was an author and journalist. Born in Vermont, USA she became a well-known journalist in the 1930s with her columns appearing on both sides of the Atlantic. During the Second World War she covered the Italian campaign, the liberation of Paris, and the Allied invasion of Germany. In 1945 she married the politician and writer Aidan Crawley. Based on the true story of a forgotten hero, Beneath a Scarlet Sky is the triumphant, epic tale of one young man’s incredible courage and resilience during one of history’s darkest hours.

Pino Lella wants nothing to do with the war or the Nazis. He’s a normal Italian teenager—obsessed with music, food, and girls—but his days of innocence are numbered. When his family home in Milan is destroyed by Allied bombs, Pino joins an underground railroad helping Jews escape over the Alps, and falls for Anna, a beautiful widow six years his senior.

In an attempt to protect him, Pino’s parents force him to enlist as a German soldier—a move they think will keep him out of combat. But after Pino is injured, he is recruited at the tender age of eighteen to become the personal driver for Adolf Hitler’s left hand in Italy, General Hans Leyers, one of the Third Reich’s most mysterious and powerful commanders.

Now, with the opportunity to spy for the Allies inside the German High Command, Pino endures the horrors of the war and the Nazi occupation by fighting in secret, his courage bolstered by his love for Anna and for the life he dreams they will one day share.

Fans of All the Light We Cannot See, The Nightingale, and Unbroken will enjoy this riveting saga of history, suspense, and love.

<![CDATA[The Testaments (The Handmaid's Tale, #2)]]> 42975414 The Handmaid’s Tale, the theocratic regime of the Republic of Gilead maintains its grip on power, but there are signs it is beginning to rot from within. At this crucial moment, the lives of three radically different women converge, with potentially explosive results.

Two have grown up as part of the first generation to come of age in the new order. The testimonies of these two young women are joined by a third voice: a woman who wields power through the ruthless accumulation and deployment of secrets.

As Atwood unfolds The Testaments, she opens up the innermost workings of Gilead as each woman is forced to come to terms with who she is, and how far she will go for what she believes.

<![CDATA[White Trash: The 400-Year Untold History of Class in America]]> 29556560
The wretched and landless poor have existed from the time of the earliest British colonial settlement to today's hillbillies. They were alternately known as “waste people, “offals, “rubbish, “lazy lubbers, and “crackers. By the 1850s, the downtrodden included so-called “clay eaters and “sandhillers, known for prematurely aged children distinguished by their yellowish skin, ragged clothing, and listless minds.

Surveying political rhetoric and policy, popular literature and scientific theories over four hundred years, Isenberg upends assumptions about America’s supposedly class-free society––where liberty and hard work were meant to ensure real social mobility. Poor whites were central to the rise of the Republican Party in the early nineteenth century, and the Civil War itself was fought over class issues nearly as much as it was fought over slavery. Reconstruction pitted poor white trash against newly freed slaves, which factored in the rise of eugenics-a widely popular movement embraced by Theodore Roosevelt that targeted poor whites for sterilization. These poor were at the heart of New Deal reforms and LBJ’s Great Society; they haunt us in reality TV shows like Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and Duck Dynasty. Marginalized as a class, white trash have always been at or near the center of major political debates over the character of the American identity.

We acknowledge racial injustice as an ugly stain on our nation’s history. With Isenberg’s landmark book, we will have to face the truth about the enduring, malevolent nature of class as well.]]>

<![CDATA[Three Pigs Get Insurance (Grandpa Lawry's Stories Book 1)]]> 33014923
CONCEPT
“Three Pigs Get Insurance is the first book in the Grandpa Lawry's Stories series of educational story books for children ages 6-12. In today’s highly competitive educational environment, school curriculums focus almost entirely on subjects covered on standardized tests. During the school day, students are given books to read that focus on writing, science and math. Yet, younger students still need to learn about careers, business concepts and vocational vocabulary.
Working life is not as it used to be. Today’s children will enter a high paced, competitive workforce. In our modern society, careers are more complex than the traditional teacher, nurse, or chef. In a recent survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, 63% of companies said they were looking to hire business majors, the second highest field after engineering.
Modern parents have the desire and need to introduce their children to business concepts at an early age. Yet, most children’s books cover topics like princesses, puppies and fire trucks. Where are the books that introduce careers in business, insurance, law, or investment banking or explain entrepreneurship?
The Grandpa Lawry's series is a resource for modern parents to read to and with their elementary age children. Each lesson is explained by a familiar fable, bridging the gap between old fashioned stories and twenty first century life skills.
“Grandpa Lawrence Lawson is no traditional rocking chair grandfather. A successful trial lawyer, firm owner, and on the board of directors of a highly successful financial institution, Lawry always finds time to spend with his ten-year-old grandson, Tommy, and eight-year-old granddaughter, Elaine. The children love to hear his stories, and Grandpa Lawry is always happy to indulge them with a story and a lesson. Set in today’s multi-cultural, multi-career world, Tommy and Elaine interact with many different types of people and occupations. The stories will explore job titles such as Lawyer, Insurance Agent, Investment Banker, Real Estate Broker, Business Owner and CEO.

UPCOMING

“Fishermen Learn Savings
Grandpa Lawry explains to his grandson, Tommy, about the importance of long-term investing through the fable of The Three Fishermen. Tommy learns about regular savings, interest and goal setting.
Grandpa Lawry continues his lessons about financial risk through the story of Cat-and-Mice, and on how banks work through the story about Potato Farmers.

Grandpa Lawry's Modern Parents Club
Grandpa Lawry's Modern Parents Club is a resource for modern parents focusing on early business/legal/financial child education to get ideas and tools on how to prepare your children for Real Life. Grandpa Lawry shares tips and lessons on early financial education and introducing children to modern careers such as bankers, real estate agents, financial brokers, corporate lawyers, insurance agents, actuaries, and more.]]>

<![CDATA[BLAKE SECURITY (The Complete Series)]]> 32592118 Includes all five books of Blake Ryder, Tyler, Leif, Abrahem, and Blake.
No cliffhangers. Approximately 1,000 pages.

RYDER
For a year, Alicia has been expecting her dark secret to catch up with her. What she isn’t counting on, however, is for that secret to end up endangering an innocent baby. Nor is Alicia at all prepared to be suddenly thrust into Ryder Grant’s path when his company, Blake Security, is hired to protect baby Celia and her family. Ryder is just as shocked when he comes face-to-face with Alicia and immediately feels a powerful connection with the beautiful Russian woman. Soon, Ryder becomes as determined to solve her mystery as he is to figure out what Alicia’s connection to the kidnapping might be.

TYLER
Tyler Petit has spent 17 years trying to forget his painful past. As a teenager, he did something so unthinkable that he was forced to flee from everything and everyone he had ever loved. In particular, when he ran, he left behind Ariana Douglas, the love of his young life. Then a phone call brings Tyler home for the first time in almost 20 years and his path crosses with Ariana’s once more. The love is still there, but there are so many secrets and so much time and pain in between the former couple that it will take a miracle to bring them together again.

LEIF
Leif Thompson isn’t your average guy. Some might even say he’s a little strange. Spending months pretending to be a different man, so he can exchange letters with a woman he’s loved from the first accidental letter he received after a mix-up, definitely qualifies. When that woman, Karli, finally meets Leif and he blurts out the truth, there’s no chance she’s going to forgive him for such a huge deception.

ABRAHEM
Abrahem Hakim has always quietly worked in the background at Blake Security Investigations. He likes it that way. But his boss, Blake, has other ideas and starts drawing Abrahem back into the world through a series of school talks about his war experiences. Specifically, about the experience where he lost his leg. And that’s how Abrahem meets Matt, a young boy who is also missing a leg, along with a father figure. Through Matt, Abrahem meets the boy’s beautiful sister, Mindy. She immediately sparks something in him he never thought he would feel, after all he saw in Afghanistan numbed him to life. But Mindy has her own demons she’s fighting, demons that threaten to tear her and Matt away from the fragile new life they’ve just barely begun to establish.

BLAKE
Blake has remained alone and aloof, holding everyone at a distance to avoid revisiting deeply embedded pain. Then Roxy drives into his life one cold, strange night, and Blake’s world is upended as he’s drawn into her own personal tragedy and sets out to help her, as he has so many others. Only this time, everything is different. In the end, maybe this one case will be what changes Blake’s life for the better, if he lets Roxy into his heart. And if he can keep her alive long enough to learn to trust again …]]>

Rush Oh! 25861094
1908: It's the year that proves to be life-changing for our teenage narrator, Mary Davidson, tasked with providing support to her father's boisterous whaling crews while caring for five brothers and sisters in the wake of their mother's death. But when the handsome John Beck-a former Methodist preacher turned novice whaler with a mysterious past-arrives at the Davidson's door pleading to join her father's crews, suddenly Mary's world is upended.

As her family struggles to survive the scarcity of whales and the vagaries of weather, and as she navigates sibling rivalries and an all-consuming first love for the newcomer John, nineteen-year-old Mary will soon discover a darker side to these men who hunt the seas, and the truth of her place among them.

Swinging from Mary's own hopes and disappointments to the challenges that have beset her family's whaling operation, RUSH OH! is an enchanting blend of fact and fiction that's as much the story of its gutsy narrator's coming-of-age as it is the celebration of an extraordinary episode in history.]]>

<![CDATA[The Hard Thing About Hard Things: Building a Business When There Are No Easy Answers―Straight Talk on the Challenges of Entrepreneurship]]> 18176747
In The Hard Thing About Hard Things, Ben Horowitz, cofounder of Andreessen Horowitz and one of Silicon Valley's most respected and experienced entrepreneurs, draws on his own story of founding, running, selling, buying, managing, and investing in technology companies to offer essential advice and practical wisdom for navigating the toughest problems business schools don't cover. His blog has garnered a devoted following of millions of readers who have come to rely on him to help them run their businesses. A lifelong rap fan, Horowitz amplifies business lessons with lyrics from his favorite songs and tells it straight about everything from firing friends to poaching competitors, from cultivating and sustaining a CEO mentality to knowing the right time to cash in.

His advice is grounded in anecdotes from his own hard-earned rise—from cofounding the early cloud service provider Loudcloud to building the phenomenally successful Andreessen Horowitz venture capital firm, both with fellow tech superstar Marc Andreessen (inventor of Mosaic, the Internet's first popular Web browser). This is no polished victory lap; he analyzes issues with no easy answers through his trials, including demoting (or firing) a loyal friend;
whether you should incorporate titles and promotions, and how to handle them;
if it's OK to hire people from your friend's company; how to manage your own psychology, while the whole company is relying on you; what to do when smart people are bad employees; why Andreessen Horowitz prefers founder CEOs, and how to become one; whether you should sell your company, and how to do it.

Filled with Horowitz's trademark humor and straight talk, and drawing from his personal and often humbling experiences, The Hard Thing About Hard Things is invaluable for veteran entrepreneurs as well as those aspiring to their own new ventures.]]>

<![CDATA[Shit my History Teacher DID NOT tell me!]]> 21015194
So what’s it all about then? History, that’s what. “Errgghhh boring boring bollocks boring, I had enough of that crap when I was at school. History just went on and on and on and on and on .. and on and on. Nothing different ever happened.

Well that’s where you’re wrong, because I’m going to bring it alive. Not all history books, or even books about teaching history, have to be tedious. I’ve looked under every rock, in every nook and cranny. I’ve searched all over the place and dug up some really interesting little titbits. Stuff not a lot of people know.

So stay with me on this one. I’ve chosen to look at past events from the birth of the planet to the birth of Christ. That’s enough for one book, isn’t it? Well, not really, because I’ve gone off track a little bit from time to time, but I do tend to do that so don’t worry about it.

If you’ve got a teenager who’s studying the history of this period, download a copy for them now because it’s all laid out nice and clear. But let me warn you, I have in the past been accused of having an inappropriate sense of humour, so if you want a little bit of a chuckle watching me make fun out of everyone I meet down the years, then this is the book for you - and if your offspring is in their early teens then it probably isn’t the book for them.

As I say, I do tend to stray into the modern day from time to time to bring things into focus, but I promise you this book will surprise you, inform you, keep you interested and put a smile on your face from time to time.

I discuss philosophers and philosophy a lot, including ancient Greek philosophers, Chinese beliefs and philosophy from around the world, but if you think it’s all Socrates, Plato and Aristotle, there’s a lot more here to be discovered. You’ll be surprised, for instance, at the similarities between the Celts and the Native Americans. The Rosicrucians will fascinate you, as will some of the secrets held by Alexander the Great!

It’s high time we had some history books for adults!]]>

<![CDATA[Type Talk: The 16 Personality Types That Determine How We Live, Love, and Work]]> 603061
What’s your type?

Would you rather . . .
. . . celebrate with the whole crowd or just a few friends?
. . . focus on the facts or get an overall impression?
. . . go with what “seems logical or what “feels fair?
. . . keep to a schedule or keep your options open?
Ěý
How you answer these questions is the very beginning of understanding who you are and how you relate to those around you, by using a new and exciting method called Typewatching. Otto Kroeger and Janet M. Thuesen have developed Typewatching from the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, which was derived from the work of C. G. Jung. Now they have put together the first and only popular guide to the MBTI in Type Talk . Here is a one-of-a-kind guide that describes this scientifically validated approach to “name-calling, a method that has been used for more than forty years by individuals, families, corporations, and governments who want to communicate better.

Typewatching as explained in Type Talk is easy to learn and natural to use. With even moderate practice it can help teachers teach and students learn, workers work and bosses boss. It can help lovers love, parents parent, and everyone accept themselves and others more easily. Best of all, Typewatching is fun.
Ěý
Type Talk examines the four pairs of preferences that are fundamental to every personality type: Extraversion/Introversion, Sensing/iNtuition, Thinking/Feeling, and Judging/Perceiving. Kroeger and Thuesen provide a self-evaluation that can be used to determine which of each of these preferences best describes you. They delineate every combination of preferences—there are 16 different personality types, so you are sure to find yourself—and they go on to demonstrate how to analyze and evaluate other people as well. Once armed with this knowledge, you will learn how to thrive in a world of so many different types. Here is a celebration of the similarities and differences in people, an odyssey of discovery in which the final destination is success, satisfaction, and serenity.]]>

<![CDATA[The Spy Who Came in from the Cold]]> 1427577 On its publication in 1964, John le Carré’s The Spy Who Came in From the Cold forever changed the landscape of spy fiction. Le Carré combined the inside knowledge of his years in British intelligence with the skills of the best novelists to produce a story as taut as it is twisting, unlike any previously experienced, which transports anyone who reads it back to the shadowy years in the early 1960s, when the Berlin Wall went up and the Cold War came to life.

The Spy Who Came in From the Cold was hailed as a classic as soon as it was published, and it remains one today.

Irradiance is a great sci-fi escapist read. Well written detailed scenes draw the reader into a future where everyone's mind is connected and speech forbidden. A cautionary tale about listening to what the planet is saying, Irradiance reminds us to cherish books, silence, and the simple joys of family life. Author David Bruns skillfully images a world in which space travel is activated by the mind and people travel to space via elevators. His characters are well-developed with both hopes and faults. I highly recommend this book.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer 24583
Unlike his brother Sid, Tom receives "lickings" from his Aunt Polly; ever the mischief-maker, would rather play hooky than attend school and often sneaks out his bedroom window at night to adventure with his friend, Huckleberry Finn the town's social outcast. Tom, despite his dread of schooling, is extremely clever and would normally get away with his pranks if Sid were not such a "tattle-tale."

As punishment for skipping school to go swimming, Aunt Polly assigns Tom the chore of whitewashing the fence surrounding the house. In a brilliant scheme, Tom is able to con the neighborhood boys into completing the chore for him, managing to convince them of the joys of whitewashing. At school, Tom is equally as flamboyant, and attracts attention by chasing other boys, yelling, and running around. With his usual antics, Tom attempts to catch the eye of Becky Thatcher, a new girl in town, and persuades her to get "engaged" by kissing him. But their romance collapses when she learns Tom has been "engaged" previously to Amy Lawrence. Shortly after Becky shuns him, he accompanies Huckleberry Finn to the graveyard at night, where they witness the murder of Dr. Robinson.

Excerpt:
"TOM!"
No answer.
"TOM!"
No answer.
"What's gone with that boy, ĚýI wonder? You TOM!"
No answer.
The old lady pulled her spectacles down and looked over them about the room; then she put them up and looked out under them. She seldom or never lookedĚýthroughĚýthem for so small a thing as a boy; they were her state pair, the pride of her heart, and were built for "style," not service—she could have seen through a pair of stove-lids just as well. She looked perplexed for a moment, and then said, not fiercely, but still loud enough for the furniture to hear:
"Well, I lay if I get hold of you I'll"
She did not finish, for by this time she was bending down and punching under the bed with the broom, and so she needed breath to punctuate the punches with. She resurrected nothing but the cat.
"I never did see the beat of that boy!"]]>

The Lean Startup 10127019 Most startups fail. But many of those failures are preventable. The Lean Startup is a new approach being adopted across the globe, changing the way companies are built and new products are launched.

Eric Ries defines a startup as an organization dedicated to creating something new under conditions of extreme uncertainty. This is just as true for one person in a garage or a group of seasoned professionals in a Fortune 500 boardroom. What they have in common is a mission to penetrate that fog of uncertainty to discover a successful path to a sustainable business.

The Lean Startup approach fosters companies that are both more capital efficient and that leverage human creativity more effectively. Inspired by lessons from lean manufacturing, it relies on "validated learning," rapid scientific experimentation, as well as a number of counter-intuitive practices that shorten product development cycles, measure actual progress without resorting to vanity metrics, and learn what customers really want. It enables a company to shift directions with agility, altering plans inch by inch, minute by minute.

Rather than wasting time creating elaborate business plans, The Lean Startup offers entrepreneurs - in companies of all sizes - a way to test their vision continuously, to adapt and adjust before it's too late. Ries provides a scientific approach to creating and managing successful startups in a age when companies need to innovate more than ever.]]>

Farthest House 19541899
"Not since 'The Lovely Bones' have we experienced such a moving tale of love, suspense, and family secrets narrated by a ghost. Lukas creates a complex, moving story with brilliant lyricism and hard won realism. She is a rare writer who makes you devour her words. Readers of Alice Hoffman and Anita Shreve will love this novel...and stay up all night to finish it!" -Jonis Agee, author of "The River Wife"

“Margaret Lukas has written a page-turner of a novel. 'Farthest House,' boldly narrated by an unsettled spirit, is part-ghost story and a full-out love story of a family coming to terms with its mysterious past, much of it lived in an ancestral home set within a gorgeously rendered Nebraska landscape. Above all, Farthest House is the story of Willow, a bewildered little girl who grows into a passionate painter. I can’t remember the last time I rooted so enthusiastically for a heroine. –Anna Monardo, author of "The Courtyard of Dreams" and "Falling in Love with Natassia"

“Haunting and eerily beautiful, Margaret Lukas' 'Farthest House' is like the family treasure chest one finds in the attic. It may seem inviting at first, but open at your own risk. An ode to both what we should and should never know about the generations that preceded us, 'Farthest House' is an unsettling, unforgettable book. Holiday Reinhorn, author of "Big Cats: Stories"]]>

Farthest House is a wonderful story. It reminds me of White Oleander and Cane River - tales of young women with strength beyond their years building a happy life out of tragedy. Highly recommend!

The Oath 365006
The community of Hyde River watches in terror as residents suddenly vanish. Yet the more locals are pressed for information, the more they close ranks, sworn to secrecy by their forefathers' hidden sins.

Only when Hyde River's secrets are exposed is the true extent of the danger fully revealed. What the town discovers is something far more deadly than anything they'd imagined. Something that doesn't just stalk its victims, but has the power to turn hearts black with decay as it slowly fills their souls with darkness.]]>
