This is Jules Verne's forgotten novel and, after reading it, I can see why. While the whole book is, for sure, written in his style, the whole novel is way darker than most of his other works, with a dystopic world where art is useless and for the most part forgotten.

This was very good! While this felt like it would have the "too many characters and too much happening at once" problem once again, in the end this volume was very consistent, with a very fun, cool and kinda creative development.

]]> 103603470 It's tough to tell the difference between teacher and students in Azuma's comedy. Teacher Yukari Tanizaki is oblivious, immature, emotional and one of the people shaping young minds. Her students face difficulties in school that most never imagined. For example, as one pupil starts to ask a question, Miss Yukari cuts him off, stating she won't talk about her bra size. Another group of students are ready for their lessons, but instead of learning about social studies or science, they learn how Miss Yukari spent her weekend. Maybe that's not so bad, considering Miss Yukari's not the brightest bulb in the bunch and has her students correcting her on many technical points. Her students aren't sure how to react, but their bewilderment is half the charm of this manga. Like the 1980s TV series Head of the Class, Azu has an eclectic mix of pupils ranging from child geniuses to sports enthusiasts to tough girls; each possessing much more than meets the eye. The precocious child genius may be great at academic subjects, but she still draws like a little girl and has the emotions of a kid. The unemotional tough teen melts for tiny animals and longs to have a pet of her own, even if all of the creatures she comes in contact with seem to hate her. The art is simple and minimalistic, but adequately conveys the thought and emotion behind each strip. Azuma's cast has depth, dimension and character, and their story heartily entertains.

Azumanga Daioh is a classic comedy/slice of life series, and deserves all the fame it has. The manga is mostly composed of short 4-koma gags, and the format works really well.

Este mangá reconta toda a história de Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories em apenas um volume, e, apesar de também pular algumas partes, como a adaptação do primeiro jogo, eu sinto que esta adaptação foi muito melhor em focar no que é importante para a história, e na personalidade dos personagens. When you start reading something like this, you already have a few expectations of what will happen, and, while this does deliver in most of what you expect, it's so, so much more than that.

This is a really nice and wholesome tale about relationships and personal growth, with a very sad tone. While this is only the first part, the way things are presented, you know what's to come, and damn, it is done masterfully.

Strong, if a bit weird and forced end for this part. Some reveals felt a bit rushed, some things didn't age well (or always felt weird, I guess, like befriending a nazi, even if this was pre-war), but... what this had to do, it did really well.
