Tithe (Modern Faerie Tales, #1)

I promised myself that if this book, a modern fairy tale, had any of the characters from A Midsummer Night's Dream, that I'd close it right then and there and wouldn't feel bad about it for a second. But I like the person who recommended this book to me and I DID love Wicked Lovely so . . . I began Tithe with trepidation but commitment.
Imagine my surprise when there wasn't a Puck, Titania or Oberon in sight.
What I loved about Wicked Lovely (5 stars) was doled out and doubled in Tithe. Dark. Edgy, Wholly unique. The characters were wonderfully flawed and unbelievably human, even when neato twists made that assessment, er, ironic.
There were little editing guffaws and a few blocking problems that left me feeling a tad confused from time to time, but nothing I wasn't willing to forgive for the rich world Holly Black created for me.
For you too! If you don't mind a little PG13 (for language) and you enjoy edgy fantasy I'm pretty sure you'd like Tithe.
