Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover
Maybe #1

After picking up the book last night, I finished reading at 3 a.m. Couldn't put it down.

Sydney Blake is basically homeless after discovering her two roommates--one being her boyfriend, the other her best friend--have been having an affair the whole time they have been together. She is pulled out of the rain by a neighbor she doesn't really know but with whom she has spent nearly every night for the past couple of months listening to as he practices his guitar on his balcony. Ridge Lawson writes songs for a band called "Sounds of Cedar", led by his younger brother, Brennan. Ridge has a long-distance girlfriend he's devoted to and two roommates, but they are looking for another roommate, so they welcome Sydney into their home until she gets back on her feet. Ridge owns the place, but in lieu of charging rent, he asks Sydney to help him write lyrics, hoping she can help him through a case of writer's block. An easy friendship is formed.

One of the characters is deaf, which adds so much to the magic of the book. I'm not kidding. There are some amazing, touching moments in this story. It has such a fresh, new feeling to it which is different than other books normally found in this genre. This one is special. Both H/h are noble characters and you root for their happiness even as you doubt whether things will work out for them. The secondary characters are interesting, if not always likable, and the group friendship dynamic and loyalty among them is a strong draw to the story.

An added bonus is the connected soundtrack by Griffin Peterson, so we can actually hear the original songs mentioned in the book performed. How cool is that? My favorite song--and the one that sounds the most "finished" out of the bunch is "Hold Onto You" (found at ). There is also a short epilogue featuring their friend, Maggie, which can be accessed at this site as well. Great follow-up on her as well!

This for sure has to be in the Top 5 of best love stories I've ever read. Highly recommended.
